Merge Tentacle into Blooper[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

MERGE 5-0

Tentacles are explicitly mentioned in this very article to be no more than the limbs of Bloopers, and the L. Tentacle and R. Tentacle links already redirect to the main Blooper article instead of this one. I really don't think a Blooper's arms deserve a seperate article just because the player may be able to target them in one game. Any usable information from this article should be merged into Blooper if not already mentioned there.

Support[edit]

  1. Edofenrir (talk) - If I recall correctly the Blooper's tentacles in Paper Mario 2 don't even have a Tattle Log entry...
  2. Reversinator (talk) Why not Arm, Leg or Foot? Because it doesn't deserve an article.
  3. Redstar (talk) - I'd considered proposing this myself, but went on for some reason. Glad to see it got support anyways.
  4. Gamefreak75 (talk) Per all.
  5. Supermariofan14 (talk) Per Reversinator.

What's IICR? Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Should be IIRC, "If I remember correctly". Time Questions 12:06, 1 January 2010 (EST)
Oh. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
And here I was wondering whether I should write it down whole or not. Should have listened to my intuition. I edited it to prevent further confusion. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 13:39, 1 January 2010 (EST)

All right, proposal passed. Now what do we salvage from this article to merge into the other? Hello, I'm Time Turner.

Alright, I merged usable stuff from this into Blooper. Not much remained, mainly the fact that Bloopers use tentacles to move and the picture from the article; the rest of the information was either already mentioned, superfluous or incorrect. I don't know what is to be done with the talk page though; can someone please tell me? (And shouldn't this proposal be marked as being over?)--vellidragon 10:52, 16 January 2010 (EST)

This currently redirects to Big Blooper due to the TTYD boss, but King Calamari also has targetable tentacles. I thought about making this a disambig, but there's no such disambigs for other targetable body parts like Queen Bean and Cackletta's arms, so maybe this could just be deleted? Blinker (talk) 09:04, November 21, 2023 (EST)

The redirect lacking a pipe makes it not very useful either. It's also very generic and can apply in various other enemies such as Gooper Blooper. We probably shouldn't have this. Princess Shroob too... Does this require a proposal or something, or can I go ahead and Template:Delete it? Blinker (talk) 14:42, November 21, 2023 (EST)
Disagreed. Tentacles in TTYD and SMRPG are gameplay elements and are given a label like any targetable enemy; because of that, "Tentacle" should lead wiki users somewhere when they search for it, and because this body part appears in two separate bosses, it's better to turn this term into a disambig page for Big Blooper and King Calamari. If there are other bosses with separately-targetable body parts that have names of their own, the obvious course is to do the same thing with them. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 14:59, November 21, 2023 (EST)
I don't think we should split body parts or other peripherals (that are generically named in particular; we still have Support Shroobs and Shroob-omb) from the main bosses. Otherwise we'll have Shadow Queen's hands and her toaster, Cortez's weapons, Queen Bean's arms, Cackletta's Soul's hands (the soul does not have its own page), Trunkle's tree, Hermie III's parts, Elder Princess Shroob's parts, Cackletta's illusions, Mrs. Thwomp's small forms, and so on as their own pages. Tentacle's issue is further compounded that players can interact with this element outside the Mario RPG games, such as Super Mario Sunshine with Gooper Blooper. I believe when people want to look up a boss's parts, they'll search for the boss instead. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! If and only if they remember its name... but as an interactive target with a given name, it's still useful as a disambig in that respect. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:08, November 21, 2023 (EST)
