Move to "Gold Bar × 3" 2-3-7-0-0-0
It has come to my attention that "Gold Bar x3" is only the name of the item in Super Paper Mario; the original The Thousand-Year Door formats it as Gold Bar x 3 (with a space), while the TTYD remake formats it as Gold Bar × 3 (with multiplication symbol and a space). As we name articles based on their most recent appearance, the title of this article is thus inaccurate and should be changed to reflect its name in the TTYD remake.
However, as with this proposal on ♥, the accessibility of the page also needs to be concerned. As the multiplication symbol is difficult to type on a regular keyboard, it would be logical that we substitute the symbol back to the Latin character "x" for the purpose of the article name (thus changing "Gold Bar x3" into "Gold Bar x 3"), while displaying the article name as "Gold Bar × 3". Alternatively, it may also be argued that the symbol not appearing at the start of the name makes accessibility less of a concern; thus, another option is to move the article name to "Gold Bar × 3".
In case that there are other valid arguments to be raised, I have also included other options for formatting the title, including an option to keep the status quo.

Support x 3: Move to "Gold Bar x 3" (Latin "x" with space), display as "Gold Bar × 3" (multiplication symbol)[edit]
- Domino x 3 (talk) Per proposal, first option.
- Camwoodstock (talk) Per YoYo's vote, but we don't see the harm in using {{Template:Title}} in these contexts. After the nightmare that was ♥, we don't want to have to deal with page titles that are potentially obnoxious to type out if one just has a standard keyboard. On our computer (Windows 10, 64-bit), Right Alt + - and Right Alt + = do not type the multiplication symbol... in fact, they seem to do absolutely nothing on most of our programs, and remove focus from the Firefox window in specific. Unless we're doing this wrong, it is simply not that easy to type the multiplication symbol.
Support x 3: Move to "Gold Bar x 3" (Latin "x" with space) without a different display name[edit]
- YoYo (talk) It's pretty silly that he had an entire proposal about how using symbols instead of conventional letters and numbers is quite troublesome, only to now backtrack and say "actually they should use symbols now".
- Camwoodstock (talk) Secondary option, though we'd prefer to use the display title to properly show the symbol. Really, we just don't want the page to land on a URL that is a pain to type.
- SGoW (talk) Per YoYo. If we killed the heart symbol and curly apostrophes, then I don't think "×" should be used in an article title either.
Support × 3: Move to "Gold Bar × 3" (multiplication symbol with space)[edit]
- Jdtendo (talk) It's the latest in-game official name, and "x" is not "×". Accessibility of the page would not be harmed if we keep "Gold Bar x 3" as a redirect, and having a display title that is different from the actual title is actually more troublesome than convenient: with this option, you would link to the article with
[[Gold Bar × 3]]
whereas the first option would require you to write[[Gold Bar x 3|Gold Bar × 3]]
. - Domino × 3 (talk) Per proposal, second option.
- Arend (talk) There's two things that makes this different from the heart symbol. First, is that the × symbol is only difficult to access on an iPad keyboard (I really don't know why, either; they could've easily made it accessible by holding the
+
key). On a regular Windows PC, all you have to do is pressing the=
(or+
) key while holdingAlt Gr
(RightAlt
). Second, this wiki has automatically enabled link suggest, which will view a list of existing articles based on what you've already typed for your link (e.g. typing[[Mario
will give you a short list of articles that start with "Mario"). All you have to do is type[[Gold Bar
and pick out "Gold Bar × 3" for easy access, which wouldn't be possible for the heart article if it was still the symbol, since you'd need to start with that one symbol in the first place. - DryBonesBandit (talk) In-game name, simple as that. Also per proposal and other voters.
- Hewer (talk) Most recent official name.
- Sorbetti (talk) Per naming.
- Rykitu x3 (talk) Per Hewer.

Comments × 3[edit]
Addendum: Video showing the TTYD remake formatting it as "Gold Bar × 3". Note that the rigidness of the multiplication symbol distinguishes it from the capital "X" in Joy Pop font (which appears during Chapter 3 of the story). I've also looked at Disable's dialogue tree to confirm, and the dialogue tree marks it as "Gold Bar X 3" consistently with a capital "X", which I found weird; when I further investigated myself by shopping 300 times to have the shopkeeper mention the name of the item, it's indeed formatted with the multiplication symbol "×", which means that the transcription in the dialogue tree might have had an error while converting the game's files into text.
