Support[edit]
- The Real Color Splash Fan (talk) The article is well written, and has a comprehensive list of every Cutout spot, as well as a screenshot of every spot to demonstrate. Compared to Crazy Cap, a similarly structured article, this one looks pretty good.
- Wandering Poplin (talk) The only remaining "problem
s" I can really find with the article isthe absence of the theme played when using it (Which can be found on Main Theme (Paper Mario: Color Splash)), and the apparent lack of any screenshots depicting Mario's 2D navigation towards a Cutout flag (I'm sure I've seen a screenshot like that somewhere on this wiki, but I don't remember where.). But I don't think either of those are big enough issues to invalidate this nomination, nor would they be very difficult to resolve. So I now agree that this article is worthy of being Featured.
Oppose[edit]
- Xiahou Ba, The Nasty Warrior (talk) Dropping my oppose, please read my comments.
#Wandering Poplin (talk) It's a decent article, but I would not currently call it one of our best. The lack of clarification for certain foreign names is one particular issue I would like to bring up. Listing "?" as the translated meaning of "Recorte" is remarkably unhelpful, and objectively should not be in a featured article. (I also find its presentation a little overwhelming in some areas, but that may just be my own opinion, rather than a flaw of the page itself. Regardless, it is definitely far more concise than the aforementioned Crazy Cap page.)
#Camwoodstock (talk) - What do the light yellow rows mean? We wanted to fix up the wikitable syntax, but we can't actually entirely do that because what is going on with certain rows being colored white yellow is... entirely unexplained, and as a result, we don't feel like this page can be considered complete until there's some actual description for this. If an answer can be provided, we'll gladly retract our oppose vote.

@Camwoodstock I'm pretty sure the white yellow rows mean that Mario would have to do something first in order to use Cutout on that spot. (For example, collect the Purple Big Paint Star in order to access the underground area in Mustard Café that houses the only two Cutout spots in the level) The Real Color Splash Fan

@Camwoodstock I think it should also be noted that the white yellow rows already have a section that says something like "Required: Collect the purple Big Paint Star.", so I don't know if the yellow coloring is that necessary. The Real Color Splash Fan

Here are my notes after taking a look at this article, as someone who has not played Color Splash:
- Intro could definitely be beefier. This is going to go on the main page, the thing that editors will first see when entering the wiki, and right now, what it describes is very vague. "Cutout allows Mario to manipulate his surroundings to progress and reveal secrets." How does it manipulate his surroundings? How does it reveal secrets? Yes, there is a more detailed description in the infobox, but I think that is the section that trimmed and fine details moved to the main body of the article. Where is Cherry Lake? Is it in the beginning of the game?
- Is cutout a proper noun or not? Is it an adjective? The article is inconsistent with capitalization: in the intro, "cutout" is in lowcaps, most parts of the article refer to Cutouts in the upper case, in other parts, "cutout" is used as an adjective (ie "cutout zone") and other times just referred to as "cutouts" (there are 47 cutouts in Prism Island). There is no single unifying way to refer to this, so which one is the correct way to say it?
- Tense. The article should be in present tense, and there are future tense mixed in.
- The yellow rows are arbitrarily colored. Like Camwoodstock said, the prerequisite descriptions are sufficient enough to tell readers that they mean there are some prerequisites. The points are also inconsistent (parts of the article say Required: Obtain Star vs Presquite: Obtain Star)
- Bullet points listed before tables are redundant information already listed in the table itself. Also, I don't think we even need to add that information about 3 cutouts or Luigi sightings in the headers where the locations are, that is something that is explained in the cell itself. The Statistics section in the bottom of the article doesn't help.
- Paperize, the mechanic Cutout is based on, has a far more in-depth mechanics system than this article. I don't know anything about how Color Splash works, but let me know if there are stuff that are worth mentioning that is mirrored with Paperize.
