"Hotcake"

"Hotcake" is the second sample movie in Mario Artist: Talent Studio.

Summary[edit]

The movie is narrated after the fact in the perspective of Aiko, a young witch. In the afternoon, Aiko gets hungry and decides to make pancakes. However, she is out of syrup. Thus, she decides to call her classmate Haru and ask him about a syrup recipe. Haru tells her that the best is apparently "sun honey", which can be found in the south sea. After hearing this, Aiko takes her flying broom to the south sea and she meets Haru there, who came by skating on the water surface. Aiko and Haru then jump into the sea, where they find a pink rabbit sleeping on the bottom. Upon waking up, the rabbit gives Aiko and Haru nuts as a greeting, which they eat. After the duo says that they are there for the sun honey upon being asked by the rabbit, the rabbit reveals that the nuts are "sun seeds" which will have honey come out once the flowers bloom. To make them bloom, the rabbit pulls out a clarinet and starts playing it while Aiko and Haru hold hands together, enjoying the sweetness of the sun honey which "changes with the pitch of the sound" and the swaying of the sun. After the end card, a scene is shown where Aiko realizes that "even sun honey makes you fat".
