Summary[edit]
Ichirō, a depressed man, is walking down a city street in the rain when he is approached by Shōichi, who asks him where he is planning to go, but Ichirō requests to be left alone. Shōichi then quotes a phrase from Ichirō, "I'm tired, so is that it?", leaving him shocked and confused while Shōichi continues by quoting Ichirō again with the phrase, "I'm always out of luck." When Ichirō demands an answer from Shōichi on how he knowns that, Shōichi just stares at Ichirō, leaving Ichirō to dejectedly state that whatever he does, nothing works, and that he is "going to end it now". Shōichi responds by quoting Ichirō again with the phrase, "There's no rain that lasts forever", immediately followed by the rain stopping. After Ichirō looks up at the clear sky, he notices that Shōichi is gone, and he realizes that what he is doing is unnecessary.
