Create new category but not as a subcategory of Hammers 2-1-0-4-0
4 out of 5 voters (80%) approve the first place option.
This category's scope is a little inconsistent. You have actual hammers like the Super Hammer the Masher, etc.; but you also have articles like Hammer (move), which is not a literal hammer but an attack using one; or the hammer-based stickers from Paper Mario: Sticker Star, which also aren't literal hammers but stickers bearing the likenesses of them—Mario just uses his regular hammer during these attacks. There's also Hammer Throw and Quake Hammer (yet again, neither are literal hammers), but no other hammer move badges from Paper Mario or Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door—including Quake Hammer's two stronger variants Power Quake and Mega Quake! I guess because these two are the only such badges with "Hammer" in the name?
To address this inconsistency, I've laid out three possible solutions on what to do with the hammer-based moves, including badges, stickers, Battle Cards, and Bros. Attacks (EDIT: A fourth option has been added per feedback):
- Create a subcategory for hammer-based moves: We create a subcategory for these moves, tentatively called Category:Hammer techniques (thanks for the name, Salmancer!). This is my preferred option.
- Broaden definition to include hammer-based moves: No subcategory is created, but we expand the definition of this category to definitively include moves. Simple and sweet, but it runs the risk of this category becoming cluttered.
- Tighten definition to only literal hammers: We completely excise hammer-based moves from this category. This is probably the least useful option, but if you're a purist for literal definitions, then I guess it might be useful...
- Create a new category for hammer-based moves, but not as a subcategory of this one: A new category for these moves is created, but it wouldn't be a subcategory of this. Whether an article would go in the new category, just Category:Hammers, or both will be decided at the user's discretion.

Create a subcategory for hammer-based moves[edit]
- SolemnStormcloud (talk) Primary choice; per proposal.
- Camwoodstock (talk) This makes the most sense to us. Per proposal.
Broaden definition to include hammer-based moves[edit]
- SolemnStormcloud (talk) Secondary choice.
Tighten definition to only literal hammers[edit]
Create a new category for hammer-based moves, but not as a subcategory of this one[edit]
- EvieMaybe (talk) this one makes the most sense to me. Category:Hammers is a subcategory of Category:Equipment, and moves aren't equipment.
- Salmancer (talk) Always felt the RPGs call for a category of hammer attacks to mirror Category:Jumps. Link them to each other with "In games where hammers are items, obtaining a hammer is required to use attacks involving hammers" or something and then it'll be easy to find without messing with the category tree.
- SolemnStormcloud (talk) Tertiary choice.
- Jdtendo (talk) Per all.
Do nothing[edit]
Comments on the category's scope[edit]
I think the solution it to have "Category:Hammer techniques" (I prefer this name) but not has a subcategory of Category:Hammers. I also believe stickers are full on items and moves at the same time though, as in you attack with Burnhammer even though the animation is a normal Hammer, because the sticker is the item and you manage stickers like items. - I've updated the proposal with your feedback. Thanks for that! —
