(The Player's Guide outright calls it a "giant Cheep-Cheep" on page 48, it's approximately the size of Mega Cheep-Cheep relatives Cheep-Chomp and Spike Bass, and it has similar behavior with other water-surface big Cheep Cheeps.)

Cheepskipper[1] is a unique purple-and-white Mega Cheep-Cheep with yellow fins and two sharp fangs protruding from its bottom lip. Its sole appearance to date is as the boss of World 3 in New Super Mario Bros. Unlike with typical Cheep-Cheeps in the game, its pectoral fins are short and round instead of wing-like, its dorsal fin is wavy and thin, and its caudal fin has two lobes instead of three.

In its boss fight, Cheepskipper jumps out of the water on the right side of the screen, bounces along the bridge, and exits from the left. While it is out of the water, the player must stomp on it three times. Cheep-Cheeps also leap out of the water during the battle.

Defeating Cheepskipper opens the path to World 5.
