I'm aware. I have cut down a majority of my optimizations, however, in images that display excessive metadata (like the 49 bars iamge today) or specifically metadata with personal information (i've seen a mix of IPs, GPS Co-ordinates, and Iphone names; stuff we don't need readily seen around). RE:Autograph

Try saying that for the three different keys in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Plus, the Super Paper Mario orbs clearly have different sprites, names, and descriptions, so it would be hard to make a good argument without mentioning the Bowser's Inside Story keys as well. ^(T|C) 23:09, February 9, 2020 (EST)

Putting these on multiple talk pages makes the conversation much more difficult. Here's the thing though, I don't necessarily think that the three keys or orbs should have been split. The former is three keys for peach's second floor with the sole distinguishment of color and the orbs are three orbs for making a bridge in the Overthere. In my opinion, you could have a redirect instead of a page with anchors for the colors specifically. Trig - 08:04, February 10, 2020 (EST)

I re-saved it form the website, and it was a PNG. The used version on another part of the webpage, with concept arts and some big chart, is a GIF version. Mine is the one displayed that I believe takes you to the home menu. Trig - 08:12, February 12, 2020 (EST)

Flimflam

Firstly, thanks for finding/creating that image for the slot machine page. Secondly, you said the flame creatures are called 'Flimflams' in the "game guide". If you meant instruction manual - it simply calls them 'fire' like a general hazard instead of an enemy, and they're under the contraptions section. It also doesn't mention slot machines in any way. Mario Kart Tour

Since I can currently only use discussion pages, I have a small request for you, and that is a small mistake on the Mario Kart Tour page with the high-end (spotlight) characters. Wario (Hiker) is listed on these characters, but is a regular high-end.

The second week has now started and apparently Wario (Hiker) is one of the spotlight characters. Because if you want to take a tube with Wario (Hiker) and go into details, then Rosalina (Aurora) is listed as standard. Both seem to be standard only for the corresponding tubes, but that wasn't the case before, at least since I started playing the game. Gamma

When colors differ between optimized and non-optimized images, it is, from my understanding, usually (often; it depends on how the image was exported, correct me if I'm wrong) the optimized result that contains the intended colors. The original images, when exported without unchecking certain options, sometimes contain gamma-correction metadata to determine the image's brightness; however, browsers often don't display this data properly as it is intended for editing. See Wildgoosespeeder (talk)'s comment on my talk page, RAP (talk)'s FAQ for previous discussions on the topic, and this article for more details. Compare the color of Luigi's clothing with the other images of Luigi from NSLU. While in some cases the gamma correction is needed, this particular image (File:Luigi - New Super Mario Bros U.png) seems it could be accurate without it. Edit: After looking at more images, I understand that it is much more complicated than I originally thought (gamma makes some images accurate and others inaccurate), see my comment on MarioWiki:Proposals for more details. --Super Mario Fan ⁶⁷ (T•C•S) 23:26, February 15, 2020 (EST)

I entirely agree that images typically look better without the gamma correction involved however both Steve and several other administerative staff have affirmed that we are not to optimize it just because it's more accurate to the actual display of the source. That makes sense. Is there a way we could modify the template/proposed policy to consider this? Something like:

This image contains gamma brightening, and should not be optimized without preserving iCCP metadata.

I'm worried about doing that because gamma is already confusing enough to the average person. I think that instead, the original template should remain and the iCCP metadata could be described on a 'MarioWiki:Gamma Brightening' page that the template could link to itself.
