Template:Minigame-infobox Twist and Route is a 4-player and duel minigame that is found during the events of Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on the song "Twist and Shout".

Introduction

In the introduction, the camera overviews the playfield that takes in some assembly table filled with plated cogs, bolts, clock plates, mini-watches, assembly pieces and various tools as obstacles. Shortly after that, the camera moves down towards the players' windup cars at the starting line. Soon after that, the minigame starts.

Gameplay

The player's windup car can be identified by simply looking at the emblem imprint on the back of the car near to the windup, the emblem imprint varies which character the player uses during the game.

The player has to first windup the mini windup car using the stylus on the bottom screen clockwise. When he or she winds the windup car towards the end. They can now steer the car within a limited amount of time depending on how well they cranked. When the player's car stops proceeding to accelerate, they must repeat this process again so that the car can continue to accelerate.

In this minigame, the playfield is filled with obstacles that the players will confront. The large stamp, cogs and bolts simply slow the players' windup cars down. Tools and other bulky objects in the pathway block partially, and the clock plates makes the player's windup car hard to maneuver with turning.

The first player who reaches the finish line wins.

In the Duel variant, if both players make their windup cars reach the finish line at the same time, the camera cuts straight to the players. The characters face the screen and do their losing animations as "Tie" appears on the screen.

Note: If both players get the same score in the Duel variant that breaks the current record, it counts as a New Record even though no one won as it will say Tie after the New Record fanfare. This also applies to the other Duel minigames with a record system, such as Rail Riders, Hanger Management, Get the Lead Out, Hot Shots, Pedal Pushers, Raft Riot, Study Fall, Hedge Honcho.
