Shigefumi Hino (日野 重文 Hino Shigefumi) is the designer for a few Mario games including Super Mario World. With that said, he was the original designer of Yoshi among many other characters from the aforementioned game. Other notable works include his direction of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Pikmin 2.
