The SandWorm is a worm-like boss in Wario World, fought in a large sand pit that continually pulls Wario in the center. SandWorm is the boss of Greenhorn Ruins. Its main attack is spitting spiky balls, but if damaged enough, it will strike back with more powerful moves, including slicing Wario with its scythe-like hands. It is quite easy to damage, though, as all Wario must do to damage it is give it repeated punches.

SandWorm never becomes stunned. But when one of its health skulls gets chopped off, it slashes after Wario with its scythe-like hands. Also, SandWorm may burrow to the center of the arena and start spitting many spiked balls in random directions. When this happens, the sand pit pulls Wario in much faster. Sooner or later, it will be deafeated, giving Wario access to Dinomighty.

SandWorm is the second of the three bosses in Excitement Central, Greenfist being the first.

The SandWorm also appears in Pecan Sands. In this fight, its attacks are a bit faster, but otherwise unchanged.

Trivia

  • The sandworm is an actual generic creature in the Real World.
  • An issue of Nintendo Power erroneously stated that Mummipokey (an undead Pokey, and therefore possibly a Skellokey or Pokey Mummy) is a sandworm. This statement was probably referring to the actual creature, though.
  • SandWorm, along with Dual Dragon and Red-Brief J, is the one of only three bosses that doesn't require Mad Moves to defeat. In fact, Mad Moves can't be used at all. The SandWorm cant be grabbed and carried, and there is nothing to pick up around its arena. The same applies to Dual Dragon and Red Brief-J.
  • Its tactics and arena are similar to Squizzard and his arena from Super Mario Galaxy 2.
