RE: Ptooie[edit]

I didn't, I just moved it from "Por" (Portuguese) to "PorA" (Portuguese NOA). Which was after someone moved it from a nonexistent "Bra". I did find the edit where it got added though, in case that's of any use. Blinker (talk) 14:17, October 22, 2021 (EDT)

I see, thanks. Well, this is definitely a very old edit, so it's most likely not official. The name is also kind of bad, so I decided to remove it from the page along with the PorA section until we really have an official translation. --GDias (talk) 15:19, October 22, 2021 (EDT)

Game Language Support[edit]

Hi, I noticed you put that Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U supports Korean/Chinese when it doesnt, only Deluxe does. Ill remove that but please double check your sources for the other games you've added the language list to! Zachruff (talk) 15:16, May 30, 2022 (EDT)

Portuguese names for Mario & Luigi: Brothership subjects[edit]

Howdy, GDias. I appreciate your contributions to the names section for various Mario & Luigi: Brothership subjects, but we require citations for foreign languages on this wiki to ensure vandals are not inventing names and to make our info more reliable. Please include references, even in-game ones, for the names you added our I unfortunately will have to revert your edits. - Nintendo101 (talk) 21:42, January 7, 2025 (EST)

Hi, Nintendo101. I've updated the references for the Brothership names I added recently as the localized in-game names, hopefully it's all good now. - GDias (talk) 22:16, January 7, 2025 (EST)

Citations for names[edit]

Hi, GDias. I hope you are having a nice day. I have noticed you have been adding names and citations from the new Portuguese localizations of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Your contributions are greatly appreciated. However, please make your citations a little more specific, as done here, especially for characters, enemies, and bosses with otherwise fully cited name tables. It is helpful for the long-term support and reliability of the information for readers to be given at least some context as to where the name is used in the game it comes from, especially for platformers and other games that do not have fully localized indexes for characters and enemies in the games themselves. Generally, in-game lines dialogue, when available, are stronger sources than than mission titles, because those sometimes are not the same depending on how the game was localized and gives the reader a direct example of how the name is employed without requiring they load they game themselves. (e.g, for King Kaliente, a stronger citation for Monarca Magmático would be a quote from Bowser Jr. during "King Kaliente's Spicy Return," rather than just the Portuguese name of that mission.)

I hope that all makes sense. Please let me know if any of that was confusing. Thank you for contributing to the site. - Nintendo101 (talk) 13:26, October 2, 2025 (EDT)

Hi, Nintendo101. I appreciate your feedback. I'll keep this in mind for my future edits from now on. --GDias (talk) 20:21, October 2, 2025 (EDT)
Thank you so much. Keep up the good work! - Nintendo101 (talk) 10:47, October 3, 2025 (EDT)

European or Brazilian Portuguese[edit]

Thanks for the help with the Portuguese names for the Galaxies ports. As a Brazilian Portuguese speaker myself, I would appreciate it if you could properly identify Portuguese names as European (with |PorE=) or Brazilian (with |PorA=), even if the game only has one of those languages. It's helpful information that contextualizes a bit more a name and its possible cultural meaning. If you don't know which language is used, you could check the game's page, as it usually specifies that. — Lady Sophie Wiggler Sophie.png (T|C) 12:27, October 4, 2025 (EDT)

Hi, LadySophie17. I appreciate the feedback. However, I'm not really convinced by this proposal and I'd rather prefer to keep it neutral if only one localization is present, as I don't think this kind of segregation benefits the Lusophone community as a whole. The only exception I would be willing to make is when there is a clear spelling difference between variants, such as "bebê" (BR) and "bebé" (EU). --GDias (talk) 12:43, October 4, 2025 (EDT)

Jill Board, Penguru, and other missing names[edit]

Hi, again. Thank you for adding names for the Portuguese localizations of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. There are a couple names we are still missing from the first game that folks seem to have been overlooking, and if you have the time, I was hoping you'd be willing to look into them. They are:

I hope you receive this well. If this is too much to add to your plate, don't worry about it. - Nintendo101 (talk) 21:58, October 12, 2025 (EDT)

Hey there, no worries - I'd love to help. I will be taking a look at these soon. Let me know if you need anything else. --GDias (talk) 21:55, October 13, 2025 (EDT)
Glad you are on board :) There is one more name I had forgotten: the red Penguin Racer (the leader with the yellow eyebrows) is mentioned by name by the Yellow Toad during "Faster Than a Speeding Penguin" in the Sea Slide Galaxy. This is another character that is easy to overlook. - Nintendo101 (talk) 12:42, October 14, 2025 (EDT)
