Roserade and Hooded Pitohui[edit]

Greetings, beautiful Awards nomination readers! The Clown Car is pulling back into the Awards Station, and as your lead performer, I’m prepared to hoist up the big top! My name is Rose, and I’ve had the distinct honor of serving as your Awards Director for the past three years. We’ve had multiple successful Awards Seasons now, with plenty of great events, presentations, and new participants every go-around. Next year marks something special for the Awards tradition: it will be the 20th Mario Awards! That’s right, our event is nearly old enough to drink in the United States, and that’s due for some serious celebration. Before we talk particulars, here’s Hooded Pitohui for his own introduction as your potential Awards Sub-Director:

Hello, all of you readers of The 'Shroom! This is Hooded Pitohui, jumping in for a brief paragraph. I've served as Roserade's Sub-Director for Awards for two years now, and previously have served as 'Shroom Director, among other roles. To quickly move from the past to the present, I am eager to continue working to make this community's annual Awards Ceremony a stellar, memorable, and smooth event. The framework Roserade has refined over the past three years is producing great results, so my goal is to assist them in keeping it humming along without issue and in keeping it responsive to the community's energy and desires.

Of course, the Clown Car is not named for just us two! No no, it’s named for all the people we cram inside! Waluigi Time (talk) and Lakituthequick (talk) are remaining by our sides as we pilot this thing, and with both of their extensive experiences in leading and maintaining community projects such as Awards, this year is certain to be in expert hands. As an addition this year, we are also looking to have Ninja Squid (talk) hop aboard! Ninja Squid is a talent in the visual department, as can be shown with his recent refreshes to the ‘Shroom graphics and his upcoming work on the holiday issue. Having him work closely with our directorship team will be sure to provide some extra pizzazz for our 20 year hurrah!

This year, we don’t have a mountain of major bullet points to hit for the season. Last year’s event was a resounding success, with a swath of new participants and the most complete presentation sign-up list in recent memory. Additionally, we succeeded in many of our organization goals from the administrative side. For these reasons, we want to honor this renewed energy and ensure we maintain what’s working about our Awards Season and the rhythm we’ve found in 2025. That said, here are a few other notes we have:

  • Adjust our Bonus Stars practices: For the last few years of Bonus Stars, it has been LTQ who has taken up the brunt of the workload, including the visual components and scriptwriting. In the interest of sustainability, this year we’re considering spreading out this process across the committee, allowing others to participate in the creation of the Bonus Stars while providing a framework they can work within.
  • Continue to build upon the visual identity of the Awards: This is always a consideration for us, but especially with NS joining our ranks this year and with a 20th ceremony underway, we’ll want to bring our A-game more than ever. We hope to further excitement for Awards by fostering this visual identity.
  • Find other ways to celebrate the 20th ceremony: With an anniversary this momentous, we want to consider other ways we can celebrate Awards as a collective whole. This would be in collaboration with community input – we’re celebrating the successes of this community, after all! Do we host more special one-night events? Create some Awards history trivia games? Finally do away with Roman numerals once and for all? We’d love to hear from you.
  • Maintain an intentional balance of community energy and awards work: Just as with past years, we will remain cognizant and receptive to what our community is telling us. We will continue to assess community energy and interests as we go, and make adjustments in what we prioritize and the scope of Awards in response.
  • Do all the other things: We will yet again do all of the other things.

This list is not exhaustive; our main priority, always, will be to act receptively with the feedback, questions, and suggestions we receive. Every person who joins in the festivities is just as important to the Clown Car as the Clown Car themselves. After all, Awards only exists because of the wonderful community which surrounds and supports it.

We'll do everything we can to bring you another successful, memorable, and fun Awards, so please consider tossing us a vote or approaching us with any questions. Thank you so much, and here's to another great year!
