The 'Shroom:Issue 224/Staff Notes
Staff Notes
Written by: Waluigi Time (talk) and Sparks (talk)
Hello there, 'Shroom readers! Apparently when I wasn't looking, someone decided it was November? Crazy. How did we get here?
I'd like to thank everyone for all the engagement we saw with The 'Shroom Spooky Scavenger last month! We put quite a bit of work into it so it's great to see so many people enjoying it. If you haven't tried it yet, don't worry, it's still available to play! We've also written up a little wrap-up article for this issue, showing all the ghosts along with their locations if you're still struggling with any of them. We hid the locations behind hover text, just to make sure no one spoils themselves accidentally.
The Awards Director Election is on now! Are you interested in overseeing the processes of making the Mario Awards happen in 2026? (Wait why is it almost 2026) If you are, then head on over to the election page, read the rules and what's expected of the Awards Director, and post your campaign!
Are you getting excited for our Holiday Special? I sure am! We're cooking up some really cool stuff behind the scenes, and there's even some sections in for it already! If this is the first you're hearing of it, December's issue will be themed around outer space! It's a great time to send in some themed sections, whether you'd like to write about Super Mario Galaxy or Metroid or Star Wars or whatever, really! We're not really picky on subject matter around here.
Enjoy the issue!
—Waluigi Time, Director
Good November everyone and happy first anniversary to Mario & Luigi: Brothership! I can't believe it's already been a year since the release of that highly underrated masterpiece. To everyone who trick-or-treated on Halloween: Did you enjoy dressing up and getting candy? Do you still have any left over?
I'm so glad to see the scavenger hunt received so positively! Waluigi Time and Lakituthequick (talk) are the ones you all should be thanking for that - they did most of the work while I cheered them on! You'll also like the upcoming Outer Space issue for December! Did you know that the Big Dipper is not a constellation, but an asterism?
What's a 'Shroom issue without guest sections?
- Fake News has two of them, both created by ClawgripFan9001:
- Sometimes sections are so wonderful they have to be brought back again and again. It's true that TV Tomorrow is coming back as an ongoing section thanks to MightyMario (talk), but Wallace Ulysses also provides his own spin on the section with TV programs all starring Waluigi! Tune in for some channel surfing!
- And what's this? Waluigi's running for Mushroom Kingdom Parliament? Who wouldn't support him? The plans are all ready to be read in a News Flush!
- In Fun Stuff, Meta Knight (talk) celebrates 10 years of writing for The 'Shroom with It's aMAZEing! Can you navigate through the maze and reach the goal? I loved mazes like these when I was a kid!
- In Critic Corner, I finally wrote a review on the incredible "Wukong's Journey" DLC for Kingdom Rush Alliance! Fittingly, it's titled Kingdom Rush Alliance DLC review - Wukong's Journey. I assure you that this section isn't monkey business!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to be playing through Hollow Knight for the very first time between this issue and the next. I don't know anything about it other than the fact that it received glowing reviews. I'll be sure to let you know of my thoughts on it when I'm finished! But that's enough from me - enjoy the issue to your heart's content!
