Greetings, beautiful readers, and I hope you didn't get frostbite on your way in! Welcome to the December edition of Fun Stuff. While I love all of the seasons, winter's always stood out in my family. We have a total of twelve family birthdays on the calendar (including my own!) in December, as well as every Christmas and family get-together in between. To say it's my busiest month would be an understatement, but nothing matches the stillness and serenity of waking up, looking out the window, and finding the entire world to be blanketed in white. The big snowfall hasn't happened yet, but hey, I can dream.

Additionally, I hope you've been enjoying all of the Smash Bros.-themed sections we've received this issue! If time had permitted, I certainly would've submitted one myself, because I love the series wholeheartedly. I have fond memories of sitting on my aunt's bed and thinking I was playing Melee with her, when I was actually a CPU; falling in love with Brawl and beating its Subspace Emissary all on my own; picking up Smash for 3DS the day it released, making it only one of two games I've purchased on release day; and now, I get to watch my Global Smash Power plummet because I'm not as good at Pichu as I thought. Smash Bros. is about as homey as the Kirby series for me, which, if you know my interests, says a lot. So, hopefully the series means as much to you as it does to me, and these sections mean a lot by extension!

Along with the Smash-themed sections, we've also got a guest section, courtesy of the man himself, Superchao (talk)! He's supplied a Metroid-themed word search for this month, make sure to give it a shot!

That's enough blabber from me. Settle in with some cozy blankets, maybe a yule log or two, and happy reading!

Section of the Month

Congratulations to Yoshi876 (talk) for triumphing in November's Section of the Month! The ever-heated duel between him and FunkyK38 (talk) continues. Congratulations as well to Lakituthequick (talk) for getting third, and thank you to every single person who's submitted to Fun Stuff this year! The 'Shroom wouldn't be the same without you.

Anagrams

Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)

Happy holidays, everyone, and welcome to December's issue of Anagrams! I hope you all have lots of fun over the festive period. And, in keeping with the rest of the issue, this month's anagrams are all Super Smash Bros. fighters. I'll also quickly throw in the hint that any ampersands (&s) I've changed into the word "and", just so that hopefully doesn't catch you out. And of course, suggestions for themes or funny anagrams you've found are always welcome on my talk page or via my PMs on the forums. Anyway, happy holidays, anagrams and new year, and I'll hopefully see you all again in 2019!

How it works...

Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!

Word Search

Written by: Superchao (talk)

Hello, 'Shroom readers! It's me, Goku Superchao! And for this issue, I'm bringing you a special one-time section. As you can tell by the title, it's a Word Search... specifically a Metroid word search! Honestly? There's no real thematic reason behind it being a Metroid word search, but I wanted to do that and not a Smash word search. So.

Words can be hidden down, across, or diagonally - and diagonally up at that. There's no backwards words in this one, I didn't want to overdo it this time around. Happy word hunting, 'Shroom readers, and look forward to all the other Superchao sections you're going to see!

It's aMAZEing

Written by: Lakituthequick (talk)

Welcome to another smashing It's aMAZEing!

Yes, that's right, two Smash-y mazes in a row! This month it is the time for Master Hand, once a thing of its own, now tied to Galeem. Let's hope nobody else is trapped in this maze...

Do you have an idea for a maze you'd like to see? Leave a message on my talkpage or find me on the forums and send me a personal message, and your idea and name may be featured in a future episode!

How to play:

  • Copy the image into your favourite art program (like Paint, Photoshop, GIMP, etc.)
  • Click the line, pencil or brush tool and adjust the size as needed
  • Draw your line though the maze from start to finish
  • f7YM4a9.pngZoom in and out as needed

Alternatively, print it out and use a pencil!

Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?

Written by: FunkyK38 (talk)

HOW TO PLAY

Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case!

You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case!

Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down.

Challenge round (optional):

-Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less

-Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help

S.O.S.- Save our Spirits!

"Look sharp, gumshoe! We've received reports that Carmen is again messing with Smash Ultimate- and this time she's gotten her cronies to snatch several legendary spirits! These spirits are some of the rarest in the game- their challenges are difficult to defeat, but if you can manage it, the rewards will be great. Carmen, however, doesn't want to play fair and has snatched Pauline, Dr. Wily, and M. Bison- some of the most difficult spirits to get in World of Light! We're counting on you to save them, cadet!"
