The Fortune Street series also uses a board game theme. Also, world maps in many, many, many games have their bases in board game design, including the use of spaces for level icons and other such things. I don't see why this should be focused exclusively on the Mario Party series, especially considering Start Space has the wider definition that I mentioned. We could make an article for the Fortune street stuff. In addition, the ones in NSMB got deleted for failing the generic subject policy. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 07:33, March 29, 2025 (EDT)
The generic subject policy has changed a lot over the years; a few years ago, this page would have been considered a breach of it, for example. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:44, March 29, 2025 (EDT)
Start Space isn't directly mentioned in the current page revision. That article also makes it overlap with panel (Super Mario Bros. 3). LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:34, March 29, 2025 (EDT)
So looking around manuals for a whole bunch of different games, and I think this talk page section is out of luck for any video game newer than the Wii. All of those just say the blue/red/whatever spaces on world maps are just courses. As in, coverage of those spaces on the map means editing level. The symbolic representation of a course is still a course, not a separate subject. Unless we want to have Ghost House and Ghost House (World Map). Salmancer (talk) 00:58, August 10, 2025 (EDT)
I play both sides, so know that the Super Smash Bros. DOJO says the map screen contains "map points".[1] I say this, but we should not under any circumstances make "Map point" and put New Super Mario Bros. anywhere near it; that's a Super Smash Bros. term and a Super Smash Bros. term it should remain.
