Move?[edit]
I completely understand why it has the name it has. Since we don't have an official name, we use whatever best describes the subject. However, I think the name Sandmaargh/Charvaargh hybrid is too ambiguous and long. I think keeping it as Sand Charvaargh would be best while we wait for an official name, since it's easier to understand what the subject is without using a long name. Sorbetti

- it being ambiguous and long is a feature, not a bug. it clearly conveys that it's a conjectural name. also, calling it a Sand Charvaargh raises the question of why don't we call it a Long Sandmaargh instead. —

Are we sure this isn't just an exposed Sandmaargh?[edit]
Sandmaarghs have never before been seen past the head, so it is unknown how long they actually are below the sand, as far as I am aware. So are we sure this isn't just a Sandmaargh showing off its body for the first time? - YoYo (Talk) 07:50, July 10, 2025 (EDT)
- At the very least, this one has Charvaargh's fin-shape and muzzle-length rather than Magmaargh's like normal Sandmaarghs have. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 09:50, July 10, 2025 (EDT)
Move???[edit]
Honestly, Sandmaargh/Charvaargh hybrid sounds like something that prima would use, and sand-chaar sounds like a name Nintendo would use, but I know that there are too many possibilities, but I think the recent name sounds like something that a toddler would use. 142.162.45.152 16:15, September 24, 2025 (EDT)
- We don't have an official name, and so a conjectural name wins out, regardless of if it, in one's opinion, "sounds like something that a toddler would use." Never mind how comically subjective that is, if Nintendo themselves isn't willing to fully explain the link between the two, there's really not a better name to describe this, without pulling some fanon-level extrapolation as to what their deal is. Until the day comes where Nintendo actually reveals its name (or, more likely, people start ripping Switch 2 games' assets, and we can use a dev-derived name), we're stuck with this for now.

When will we EVER know the official name for this enemy?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.85.54.68 (talk).
- The answer to that, unfortunately, is kind of just "it'll happen when/if it happens." Maybe someday they'll reveal it, or maybe we'll get a better name by virtue of being able to derive one from the internal data of the game once Switch 2 software is more readily understood by dataminers, but until then, it could happen literally tomorrow via Nintendo Today!, or in several decades when the track makes a re-appearance as a Retro Course in some far-future Mario Kart installment, where they are suddenly and abruptly named.

- This Nintendo Play Scavenger Hunt video refers to it as nothing more than simply a Charvaargh, so I guess the closest we can call this thing at the moment is "Charvaargh (sand)". 🤷

- I agree. I relayed this in the Super Mario Wiki Discord, but, to me, it seems this creature's relationship to Charvaargh is comparable to the one Sandmaargh has to Magmaargh, the former of which has the name that would directly translate to "Sand Magmaargh" in Japanese. While not ideal and nonspecific, Play Nintendo's use of "Charvaargh" is likely closer to the truth of what this creature is conceptualized to truly be and I would not treat it as a mistake. - Nintendo101 (talk) 13:49, October 14, 2025 (EDT)
- Rebargless if there's a move or merge, I think it should be noted that at the 10:56 mark of the video, he says "I wonder if there are other types of Charvaarghs," alluding to the lava type. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:59, October 14, 2025 (EDT)
- Oh, I am not advocating for a merge. I was advocating to moving this article to "Charvaargh (sand)." If Nintendo publishes subsequent material that further clarifies their relationship, then perhaps we can consider things like that. - Nintendo101 (talk) 14:03, October 14, 2025 (EDT)
- Gotcha. I agree. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:08, October 14, 2025 (EDT)
