Glorpedo is the name given only to the enemy that Monty Mole throws in Noki Bay. I don't understand why the goop balls that Petey throws were included. From what I saw, the reason is that "Petey also throws these projectiles," but that's not true. They don't look alike, they don't have similar mechanics, and they don't even share a name. Glorpedos are enemies that can be defeated with FLUDD or by stomping on them; they leave Goop behind as they move. Meanwhile, the thing Petey throws is a Goop ball that explodes and spawns enemies. There's no physical resemblance, no similar mechanics, and they don't have the same name. The Glorpedo article should be about the enemy recognized by Nintendo, not about all the goop balls in the game. Here's Mario Portal explicitly showing only the yellow Glorpedo; the Encyclopedia also showss it, and I'm pretty sure other guides do too. Therefore, what this proposal seeks is to make this page only about the enemy of Noki Bay, eliminating the information about the fights against Petey in both Sunshine and Paper Jam.

Support[edit]
- Sorbetti (talk) Per proposal.
- Yoshi18 (talk) Per proposal and consistency? Why mention another thing that sounds similar even though they're both totally different things?
- Wandering Janitor (talk) Per all. Let's clean up this page!
- Mariuigi Khed (talk) I mean, one is a ball, and the other a boss projectile. Per all
- Arend (talk) Glorpedos are literally called "Igaiga" in Japanese, meaning "thorny"; implying a spiky appearance. And Glorpedos are in fact spiky (although the spikes are rather blunt as opposed to sharp). The goop balls Petey shoots out in Sunshine are lumpy, but I wouldn't call them "spiky", as these lumps are amorphous and change constantly. And in Paper Jam, they're completely round and smooth!
- Okapii (talk) Per proposal. Petey's putrid projectiles should be placed in their own personal page.
Oppose[edit]
Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - The things that get launched at you throughout the second mission of Bianco Hills look the same to me, using the native goop texture (not unlike what Proto Piranhas do). From what I can tell, they have the same lumpy shape and everything, just plumper looking. Of course the Paper Jam one uses a different model, it's a completely different game from several years later, IDK why you're using it for a direct comparison.
Comments[edit]
Here's footage of the Sunshine projectile. I guess it doesn't look as identical as I thought (granted they're only visible moving at high speed for about half a second, and when you're playing on a stretched version of the GCN resolution using RCA cables the details aren't exactly clear), though the role for both the Bianco and Bay thing remains "lumpy slime ball that is launched by boss, travels downward, makes a huge splat at the bottom." If it's split from here, the ball should definitely be considered a type of goop in some manner. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:17, February 5, 2026 (UTC)
- I added the image from the video you showed ; thanks for that. I used the paper Jam one because I couldn't find any images of the generic Goop Ball. Now, as you can see, they're not 100% identical. There are similarities, but they don't seem to be intentional at all. Besides, while the simplest way to look at the page is that both are Goop Balls, one is a projectile that doesn't do damage and explodes immediately, and the other is an enemy that rolls down slopes, jumps around, and can be defeated. Look at the description in the encyclopedia: "They roll down hills, leaving trails of pollution as they go. If Mario jumps on them, they collapse into mud-like puddles." That clearly refers to the one from Noki Bay, and anyway, physical resemblance isn't even an argument for merging. They don't even use the same model or act the same way. If we start merging just because things look alike, we'd merge a lot of pages. Also, this proposal is intended to remove the information of generic goop ball from Glorpedo, not to decide its fate after the removal.

- The "Pollut Ball" (per file name) should definitely go somewhere (especially given its return in Paper Jam), and last I checked it does hurt to get hit by. It's rather irresponsible IMO to just delete without any consideration as to where it should go. Another thing interesting about them, this prototype screenshot indicates they were originally going to have Piranhabons (with the early "Petey Piranha head" design) have their role as the "Bianco projectile." - Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem making its own page, so after removing its info from this page, I'll move it to its own dedicated page.
