Dead Ringer is one of The Job Center microgames in WarioWare: D.I.Y. The player has to draw Wario's opponent's head.
Gameplay[edit]
To win the game, the player has to wait until Wario says Here I come! and charges at the player. Then, the player must tap anywhere on the screen to make their fighter kick Wario out of the ring. If the player is too late, Wario knocks the fighter out with a punch, and the game is lost.
Wario's Job Center description[edit]
"That's ME in the purple tights! Now make me a tough-looking opponent...that I can beat."
Naming[edit]
A "dead ringer" is someone or something that very closely resembles someone or something else; here the term is used as a pun, as the player is tasked with knocking Wario out of a boxing ring.
Names in foreign languages[edit]
| Language | Name | Meaning | Note(s) | Ref. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Japanese | たたかいのとき Tatakai no toki | Time to fight | [1] | |
| French (Europe) | Sur le ring | On the ring | [1] | |
| German | Schlägerei | Brawl | [1] | |
| Italian | Full contact | - | [1] | |
| Spanish (Europe) | Lucha libre | Freestyle wrestling | [1] |
Notes[edit]
- The player character's head sprite lags behind its body's movements; this can be seen most visibly when kicking or being punched out of the ring, as the head will appear detached for one frame.
- Wario's head is similarly a separate object, except for in his defeat pose; when Wario is kicked away, the head object will persist for one frame, floating next to his defeat sprite.
- Depending on the player's timing, a glitch may occur where both fighters will fly out of the ring simultaneously, ending in a loss.
