Wario's Cap is Wario's most distinguishing piece of clothing. The hat is yellow with an exceptionally large blue "W" emblem inside a small white circle. The hat also features a white rim and has been featured in every Wario game (besides its excessive absences in the WarioWare series, for Wario scrapped his classic look and wore a biking outfit for that series).

Appearance
The Wario Cap is a yellow cap, with a large blue W emblem inside a small white circle and a white rim. The Wario Cap previously appeared in different colors. In some segments of Wario's Woods, his cap appears purple, although in the SNES version, his cap appears yellow like his official artwork. In Wario Land II and Wario Land 3, the Wario Cap is depicted as white in-game due to the color limitations of the Game Boy Color. In Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, his cap was gray due to the monochrome display of the Game Boy. In Wario Land 4 and Wario Land: Shake It!, his cap is depicted as yellow like his official artwork.

In his profile picture after lose in Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart: Super Circuit will show Wario biting his cap. This is a pun on the phrase "I'll eat my hat"- used to express strong disbelief for something, in this case Wario losing.
The cap has also been imitated on different headgear Wario has worn. Wario's WareWare helmet is in the style of his cap with the white rim and blue W emblem. Wario's safari hat from Wario Land also has his signature blue W emblem.

In Wario: Master of Disguise the hat plays a more important part as a checkpoint in each chapter. There are many hats scattered in each chapter and if the player found one they could save the game. By saving, the player wouldn't have to start from the beginning of the level if they died, but wherever the checkpoint hat was.

Wario's hat affects Wario as Mario's hat affects Mario. If Wario were to lose his hat at any time, most notably in Super Mario 64 DS, his defense and strength would sharply decline. By getting the hat back, Wario would have a steadier chance of survival in an extremely tough level. While his hat is absent, Wario would be unable to pick up any hats or turn metal. Also in that same game, Wario's Hat could be picked up by either Mario, Luigi, or Yoshi to shape-shift into Wario.  Until he is unlocked, the only course his cap appears in Hazy Maze Cave. If he loses his cap and gains a star from another level, Wario can simply talk to Toad (who will find and be wearing Wario's cap). While the cap is important to Wario, Toad diminishes it by saying that it "reeks pretty bad" and that Wario should wash it out more often.

The Wario Cap
Wario, I found this cap in front of the castle a little while ago. I knew it was yours because of its distinctive...erm...aroma. Actually, it reeked pret-ty bad. I can't believe I touched it. You really should wash that thing more often. Anyways, here you go.”
Toad, Super Mario 64 DS

The Wario Cap (or Wario's cap) is Wario's traditional headwear. It appears in most games with Wario, but it is usually absent in the WarioWare series, as Wario wears a biking outfit in that series instead. Like Mario and Luigi, Wario has been seen wearing the cap since he was a baby, as seen in Yoshi's Island DS. Unlike the Mario Cap, the Wario Cap usually serves no function other than for decorative purposes.

History[edit]

Wario: Master of Disguise[edit]

A hat switch

In Wario: Master of Disguise, the hat switch resembles Wario's cap and functions as a checkpoint.

Super Mario series[edit]

Super Mario 64 DS[edit]

Wario's cap

In Super Mario 64 DS, Wario's cap can be found and worn by either Mario, Luigi, or Yoshi to transform into Wario. Until he is unlocked, the only course his cap appears in is the Hazy Maze Cave. If Wario loses his own cap, his defense and strength sharply decline, and he cannot pick up other characters' caps or turn into Metal Wario. If the player collects a Power Star in a different course while the cap is still missing, Wario can retrieve his cap by talking to a Toad (who will have found and be wearing it) in the Mushroom Castle's lobby. The Toad says the cap "reeks pretty bad" and suggests that Wario should wash it more often.

Super Mario Odyssey[edit]

The Wario Cap can be obtained for Mario to wear in Super Mario Odyssey. It can be either purchased from a Crazy Cap store or obtained through scanning a Wario amiibo.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle[edit]

The villainous Rabbid Bwario dons a cap resembling Wario's cap in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Bwario's cap has an upside-down blue Mario emblem instead of Wario's emblem.

Appearance[edit]

The cap has also been imitated on different headgear Wario has worn. Wario's WareWare helmet is in the style of his cap with the white rim and blue W emblem. Wario's safari hat from Wario Land also has his signature blue W emblem.
