World 5-1 is the first level of World 5 in New Super Mario Bros. It is the first and the only level to include Snow Spikes.
Layout
The level begins with a Snow Spike on a platform directly above Mario's head and four Goombas in front of him. Then, after jumping the pit beyond the Goombas, there are some trees that have snow on them. The second tree will drop the snow, stopping Mario cold. Following those are a few Question Blocks and an indentation containing deep snow. This will cause Mario to sink in a little and reduce his jump height. Star Coins
- Star Coin 1 - Before the checkpoint, above a bit of falling snow. Use the nearby Question block to ascend to the Star Coin.
- Star Coin 2 - Above a Koopa Paratroopa after the checkpoint. Use either the Koopa Paratroopa or the Flying Question Block to collect it.
- Star Coin 3 - Near a Platform Block. Defeat the Snow Spike, then hit it 3 times. Jump into the coin.
