A Trouble Bug, as it appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Trouble Bugs were the first generic enemies ever in a Mario game. They are actually fireballs rather than actual bugs. In Donkey Kong, the fire would jump out of oil barrels and try to harm Mario by touching him. One touch and Mario lost a life. They could be destroyed with a Hammer. They were not named in English, but in Japanese their name was "Trouble Bug".

They appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis in the final boss fight with Donkey Kong on the roof and the basement levels. Trouble Bugs also appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, on the 75m stage. On that stage, Trouble Bugs damage the fighters. Each hit does 10% damage.
