Box Art

Mario is Missing! is a edutainment game for the NES, Super NES, and for DOS. The gameplay is widely panned by critics, although it is somewhat well-known for its creative Super Mario World music remixes.

Story

Bowser has kidnapped Mario and taken him to his castle in Antarctica, on Earth. Bowser's plans to steal several shipments of hair dryers from Hafta Havit Mail-Order to melt Antarctica and flood the world. By kidnapping Mario, he assumes that no one will be able to stop him. Luigi, however, proves him wrong.

Gameplay

In each level, Luigi must retrieve three artifacts from several Koopa Troopas within the city, return them to their rightful places, and deduce what city he is in so that Yoshi can come to his aid. Without Yoshi, Luigi cannot finish the level, as the exit pipe is occupied by a large Pokey.

Trivia

  • At the end of the game, Mario and Luigi load Bowser into a cannon and launch him into the snow, where he freezes instantly, and then splits in half, obviously dying. It is not known whether this was actually Bowser, making Mario is Missing likely the last game in the Mario timeline, or if it was merely a Bowser suit, like that used by King Boo in Luigi's Mansion. Otherwise it is best not to take the events of the game entirely seriously, as Bowser has fell in lava and been blown up by gigantic mines.
  • Also note that this ending does not occur in the PC version, with the most developed plot; rather, Bowser is simply pushed out of the final tower and into the Antarctic snow. After Luigi, Mario, and Yoshi leave, Bowser hauls himself out of the snow and throws a nasty look toward the player.
