Baobab Bonanza

Template:Level Baobab Bonanza is the second level of Bright Savannah, the third World of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The level heavily features spiky Boabab fruits. Touching a Boabab fruit makes the Kongs lose a Heart. There is also a gigantic Baobab fruit at the end that chase the Kongs and must be escaped from. This level is unlocked by finishing Grassland Groove, and completing this level unlocks Frantic Fields. There are seven Puzzle Pieces in this level.

Layout

The level begins with a strip of land with a Fluff and a bulb at the end of it. This bulb spawns a Banana Coin when pounding the ground nearby. After which is a jump, leading to a flower and a couple of Bananas. After which is another strip of land. The next strip of land is a slope downwards. On the start of the slope, small Baobab fruits fall down. Should the Kongs touch this, they lose one Heart. At the end of the slope is a short gap that leads to a short platform containing one bulb. This bulb contains a Banana Bunch. After another small gap is another flower with two rings of Bananas on both sides of the platform. After a small gap is a Waldough, and leaping over another gap leads the Kongs to a slope that goes upwards. On this slope, Baobab fruits roll downwards, meeting the Kongs as they do so. The Kongs must leap over the approaching Baobab fruits as they come. There is a small dip downwards that take the Kongs down to a platform made out of wood, on which two Fluffs are found.

After progressing onwards from the area with the two Fluffs, here is an area with a plug, two Tucks and a Tuff Tuck. Unearthing the plug reveals several flower platforms. Climbing the flower platforms make the Kongs reach a platform to the left with a DK Barrel on it. There is also a Hootz found here. A large flower platform must then be navigated. After the large flower platform is a platform with grass on it. This platform ends with a wooden panel. The Kongs must pound this wooden panel to continue the level. After falling down, a Checkpoint is found. A small walk later is a slope that dips down, where Baobab fruits roll down. There is also a Swooper Dooper here. On the bottom of this slope is a bud that reveals a Banana Bunch Coin upon pounding the ground nearby. A tree platform must then be reached by preforming a small Jump. After another small Jump, the Kongs reach a flower platform with a Heart and two Banana Bunches above.

After a medium-sized gap after the flower platform, the Kongs reach the lowest part of a slope that goes upwards. This slope also levels out at a number of places. The Kongs must leap over multiple Baobab fruits here. There are both Baobab fruits of smaller size and of larger size rolling down here. The bigger Baobab fruits roll down faster than the smaller Baobab fruits. Following along is a small tree platform above the slope with a Tuck on it. After the slope fully leveles out, the Kongs must use their Roll Jump to reach an elevated tree platform with a DK Barrel that can only give the Kongs Dixie Kong. Beneath is a small downwards slope with a Painguin Tuck found at the bottom.

The Kongs now have to climb a Vine with a Hot Hootz beneath the Vine. This Vine takes them to a flower platform with a Swooper Dooper above it. Above the Swooper Dooper is a Banana Bunch Coin. The Kongs must then leap into a stationary Barrel Cannon with an up arrow on that launches the Kongs upwards onto another flower platform. Another Vine with a Hot Hootz at the bottom is found here. Leaping away from the Vine successfully, the Kongs then land on another flower platform. A Swooper Dooper and a Banana Bunch Coin are found here. After this flower platform is a checkpoint.

Reaching the checkpoint, the Kongs must move upwards a small slope. At the end is a bulb that yields one Banana after pounding the ground nearby. After a small downwards dip down, the Kongs reach another platform with a Buffaloafer on it that the Kongs can lure the Buffaloafer to run down a bottomless abyss to the right. On this platform is also a plug that make Banana Bunch Coin appear when plugged. Following this platform, a bud with a Banana Bunch Coin is found, followed by two flower platforms with three waterfalls in the background.

After the set of two flower platforms, a series of small upwards slopes are found. The Kongs must dodge a number of Baobab fruits of different sizes here. Immediately as they land on the strip of land, a tree platform is found with a DK Barrel ontop. To the right is another tree platform, this one containing a Pointy Tuck. Continuing forward, a wooden platform is found beneath an inaccessible platform. The strip of land then levels out, and a Barrel Cannon with a skull is then found. The Kongs can collect an Extra Life Balloon here if they time their shot correctly. The Barrel Cannon launches them into another Barrel Cannon that takes the Kongs to the background of the level, where a gigantic Baobab fruit is seen.

Upon being launched into the background, the Kongs bump into the tree that the gigantic Baobab fruit is hanging from, subsequently making it roll down, chasing the Kongs as it does so. The Kongs must then quickly make their way forward. The Kongs must leap up to a platform, leap towards two flower platforms above some spikes. Two Blue Hootz are found here. The Kongs must go below these Blue Hootz. After the two Blue Hootz are two flower platforms, the left one having two Blue Hootz slightly above it, after which is yet another flower platform and a medium-sized gap. Leaping this gap, the Kongs must climb to the top of this platform. After the gigantic Baobab fruit has reached this platform, the platfrom teeters to the right for a little while, eventually tipping over to the right. The Kongs must then act quickly to reach a Barrel Cannon. Launching themselves from the Barrel Cannon launches them into the Slot Machine Barrel of the level, ending the level.

Secrets

K-O-N-G Letters

• K: After the second flower platform, the Kongs must leap upon a Waldough to reach the K letter.
• O: After reaching the first Swooper Dooper, traversing the tree platform and the flower platform, and making a medium-sized gap, the O letter is found at the bottom of the upwards slope found after making the gap.
• N: After being launched upwards by the first Barrel Cannon in the level, the Kongs find a Vine with a Hot Hootz beneath the Vine. Sliding all the way down this Vine nets the Kongs the N letter.
• G: At the end of the level, where the Kongs are being chased by the gigantic Baobab fruit, the Kongs must grab onto the side of the platform that is found after the final set of two Blue Hootz have been navigated around. The Kongs must leap towards the G letter found at the bottom of the platform. After collecting the G letter, the Kongs must climb upwards quickly before they are smashed by the gigantic Baobab fruit.

Puzzle Pieces

1. At the second flower platform of the level, there are two circles of Bananas. Collecting them all reveals a Puzzle Piece.
2. At the area with the plug that, when unearthed, creates four flower platforms, the Tuff Tuck there must be grabbed by the Kongs. Grabbing the Tuff Tuck and climbing to the rightmost flower platform, the Kongs can then chuck the Tuff Tuck toward a portion of the wall to the right. Doing so reveals an entrance to a Bonus Level. Successfully finishing the Bonus Level earns the Kongs a Puzzle Piece.
3. After finding the O letter, the Kongs must find a plug on a section of the upwards slope where it platues out. Unearthing this plug reveals a number of Bananas that move about in a confined area. Grabbing all Bananas reveals the Puzzle Piece.
4. After the Kongs have reached the tree platform with the DK Barrel that can only give the Kongs Dixie on, they must leap leftwards to reach a platform that Baobab fruits land upon. On this platform, the Puzzle Piece is found.
5. After the platform with the Buffaloafer, the Kongs must leap onto the left flower platform of a set of two. Whilst here, the Kongs must collect every single Banana Bunch that flows down. After collecting all of them, the Puzzle Piece appears.
6. During the second part of the level where Baobab fruits of different sizes roll down, and after the wooden platform in this area, a bud is found. Pounding the area nearby makes a star-like pattern of Bananas appear. Collecting every Banana in this pattern in a time limit makes the Puzzle Piece appear.
7. On the same platform as the G letter is found on, the Kongs must quickly make their way up to the top of this platform. Whilst there, the Kongs must quickly leap in the air, grabbing the Puzzle Piece. Should the gigantic Baobab fruit reach the platform before the Puzzle Piece is collected, the platform topples over, making the Puzzle Piece unobtainable.
