Are you sure this is your own words? Judging by the amount of broken links involved, it looks like it's stolen.

If I assumed wrong, sorry.

He said in MarioWiki:Featured Articles/N/Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story that it came from Wikipedia. KS3 (talk · contribute) 04:29, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Um, it got reverted.

In order to clarify, I wrote all of this comment on Wikipedia, which is why it has so many broken links. - NARCE 04:32, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
So you are in Wikipedia. KS3 (talk)
No, I cannot say that I am. That is a person who was vandalizing the article just recently. - NARCE 04:39, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

So why isn't your username here NARH? 22360415-149x149-0-0 ++The+SpongeBob+SquarePants+Movie.jpg Boo der dash 180px-MaskedDedede.png
I knew it! KS3 (talk)
This is what I usually use for other web sites. If you'll notice, New Age Retro Hippie abbreviates to "NARH". - NARCE 04:51, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

You know it's possible to go to Lindsay's talk page and explain your reasoning instead of repeatedly reverting the edit. Marioguy1 (talk)

Same with me. My username except for Userpedia, Earthbound Wiki, and here, is either onetwentysix, or Sixeightyseventyone. (I don't know why, probably in honor of this person), so you might ask, well why isn't your name here also one of those two. Well, I was a user here before anywhere else, although I vandalized once on Wikipedia when I was 7, well back then, I didn't really know anything about Wikipedia vandalizing. Well, you should seen my first username. It was really long. I decided to shorten it up. Back in January, Mario Kart Wii was my favorite game, and Red Shells was my favorite item in the game. And in Mario Kart Wii, there is Wifi connection. And in there, you earn points, there called vr (battle is br). So I intended it to be Red Shell 6806vr, my vr that time, but there was a typo error (I typed in a extra 6). I was worried about other people thinking me as a MKW hacker, so I quickly changed my name.
Nowadays, I got bored of having my name as KS3, but the two name-change rule put me into this name prison, where I'm trapped until February with this MKW-clan-modified-thing name. The only good thing is that it is easy to type, unlike BLOF's and the person who nominated Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.

PS: I know 2 other people who are at both here and Wikipedia, but two of them doesn't contribute as much, and I don't know much about the other.

I do too. User:Booderdash

Actually 3. They are Fawfulfury75, MATEOELBACAN, and you, Booderdash. KS3 (talk · contribute) 05:43, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

RE: Birdo[edit]

I am not Lindsay, but I think I can answer in her stead. The section that was removed was a 1:1 copy from wikipedia, and we do not allow these here, regardless of how well-written they may be. If this kind of information is to be included (which would indeed be helpful) it has to be an original text, written by a Mariowiki user for the Mariowiki.

Another thing:

Why have you not replied? For a sysop, you sure are unhelpful in promoting discussion.

Lindsay is not a sysop, she is a patroller, and she has only been promoted a few days ago, so seeing you attacking her like that strikes me as very rude. Please watch how you address the other members of this wiki, if you want to be respected as one of our writers. Thank you for the attention. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 05:48, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

It was not an attack. It was me being frustrated from being ignored when I tried to explain my edit, and afterward, having the user not care about what I just said.
And in response, the content was written by me on Wikipedia, and brought over here. If I were to write reception for this article, the only thing that would happen would be that I would have to find all of these sources again, and write it again. I cannot rewrite it, as any rewriting I would do would be a near reproduction of what I wrote originally. The policy of not taking from Wikipedia was for the fact that it was in poor taste, and may be taken poorly by the writers who worked very hard to create the content and source the content. However, opposing the addition of content because it is from Wikipedia is not an appropriate reason. Heck, I was one of the people who pushed for keeping Wikipedia content off of this Wiki, but not blocking for the sake of blocking. The only good reason to block Wikipedia content is invalid as the only person who could complain would be me, who obviously doesn't care that such content is on the article. - NARCE 06:51, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I recognize an attack when I see one, but anyways...
You don't seem to understand the mentality of this wiki very well. A good editor here not only knows how to write well and comprehensive, and to use sources wisely. A good editor also possesses something that is called pride in his or her own work. Having 1:1 copies from other sides as entire sections is a disgrace to the very act of writing itself. The entry you copy/pasted was written with pride for wikipedia, but it is meaningless for our wiki. You may not understand this, but there is a difference between Wikipedia and the Mariowiki. Wikipedia is a highly-comprehensive factual encyclopedia with uncountable masses of contributors, and a coverage of almost everything. The Mariowiki, while trying to be as factual as possible, is in its core still a fan wiki, written by Mario fans for Mario fans. In a fan wiki, you should not only feel obliged to editing standards and good writing alone, no, one of the most important things is that you feel passion for what you're doing. You are here because you are a Mario fan, and to show that you write articles. By copying stuff from other pages, yes, even if you were the one who wrote them originally, you submit something that contains no passion at all, since it was written for a completely different purpose and site altogether.
Fan wikis will always remain different from wikipedia, since they have entirely different mentalities and objectives. The reason we exist is the passion and loyality of those of our contributors who take pride in what they do. We are the Mariowiki, we are proud of what we have accomplished. We want to preserve our accomplishment by featuring content from us and for us. Therefore, we don't want to copy wikipedia's content. If you think that ripping off content from another side is no big deal, if you are trying to turn the Mariowiki into a second wikipedia, and if you do not feel passion and love for the work you are doing here, then you are in the wrong place. Good day. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 18:19, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Endo, how can a wikia become a wiki? 22360415-149x149-0-0 ++The+SpongeBob+SquarePants+Movie.jpg Boo der dash 180px-MaskedDedede.png

As Edo said, we don't try to emulate Wikipedia. So don't go around trying to change policies, because the oens we have have worked very good, and some of them are even an example for other NIWA wikis. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 19:20, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

For one, I'm pretty sure that you'd have a hard time establishing how someone can rip off themselves.
For another, you use the act of someone using their own work on two related sites as if it has anything to do with writing. Explain to me, how I can possibly in any capacity make a similar section without having it turn out exactly the same. If I had an interest in improving the Birdo article, that would effectively be your argument - waste time writing the same content. To suggest that I don't have "pride" in something that I scoured the Internet to find all of the sources for, and have spent hours writing and rewriting is absurd. Again, writing has nothing to do with what you are describing. I'm sorry that you prefer your readers to learn less about certain elements, but I'd prefer our readers were able to learn about these things. As it stands, all Birdo presents is "oh hay, stats!". It's not pride in MarioWiki, but rather disdain for Wikipedia that prevents you from daring to allow such content. Or, heck, even probably the fact that if it is allowed, it becomes standard, and raises the expectations for articles. - NARCE 20:46, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but writing something that is directly from Wikipedia is still not allowed. It is called Wikidump, and does not make the article any better. Fawfulfury65
It is by my hand that it is written. We don't allow Wikidumps because it's considered theft. One cannot steal from themselves. - NARCE 20:57, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but you still can't put content here that is on another wiki. Fawfulfury65
You mean the real original wiki that started it all. Btw, why was Shadoom blocked? He didn't seem to be trolling to me. 22360415-149x149-0-0 ++The+SpongeBob+SquarePants+Movie.jpg Boo der dash 180px-MaskedDedede.png
Preventing content that originated from Wikipedia from being on this Wiki for the sake of it defeats the purpose of the rule. - NARCE 06:33, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Except it's not "for the sake of it". Beyond concerns of ripping off Wikipedia or maintaining an in-house style, there is one simple little reason.
It's boring. For both the readers and the users of this site, there is *no* benefit in having a section lifted verbatim from a much more popular site. Casuals and newcomers have already read it somewhere else while veterans are stuck with a clashing eyesore that is not representative of the site.

And looking at the edit itself, I wouldn't even support it even if it wasn't a Wikipedia copypasta. Sites like Wookiepedia and the Transformers Wiki (both much, much more comprehensive about the real-world context that us) don't have sections for the "Reception" toward a specific character, either. Why? Because it doesn't belong. Wikipedia makes a big deal of only covering things that have an importance or a cultural impact. Listing "reactions" toward a character is one way of establishing notabillity, and that is fine... for them. However, we do not have the burden of notabillity anything related to Mario goes in. We're targeted toward Mario fans who wants the details, the trivia, the obscure minutia - the cruft, as Wikipedia call it. And I'm sure no Mario fan is interested in seeing what some random IGN editor thinks of one character. --Glowsquid 12:49, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Good point. You find it boring! Great to know that you are the bastion of opinion on this web site. Basically, the goal of this Wiki is to avoid anything that Wikipedia focuses on; wonderful to know. As opposed to being comprehensive and interesting [yes, believe it or not, some people DO like to read about that kind of stuff], the focus of this Wiki is personal speculation, game guides, and trivia. - NARCE 21:54, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
NARCE. You have been told we don't want to have content copied directly from wikipedia, and you have also been told why we don't want to have it. Continuing this discussion is pointless, since you don't listen anyway. If you want to help us here, you have to follow our rules. If you don't want to do that, no one forces you to stay. This discussion should end here and now. Good day. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 21:58, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
You know, me not agreeing with people does not transfer to me ignoring people. I'm still at a loss for words as to how more content is bad for this article [besides "lolwerenotwikipedia"]. - NARCE 22:02, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
It' sbecaue all that info had so many links that do not have pages, and never will here. Evenm if you wrote it on Wikipedia, it belongs on Wikipedia, and that's that. Pikmin' BluePikminKong497 22:03, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Eh, just leave him alone. He had his answers, and that's that. All further discussion won't yield any useful results anyway. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 22:06, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
And I already fixed all of those broken links. It's information. It educates, informs, and helps people better understand the subject. God forbid that someone see a character in a fictional media in a real world context. - NARCE 22:10, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Well then why is Bowser on wikipedia? and Sonic? and Spongebob Squarepants? and Ebenezer Scrooge? and etc.... KS3 (talk)
I'm not sure what you mean. - NARCE 22:20, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Enough with this discussion, it is meaningless. No matter what anyone says, that content is not going into the Birdo article. Fawfulfury65
So basically, I just have to wait a year or two until this Wiki transforms into a more serious Wiki, like it did over the past couple of years [to some extent]. - NARCE 22:27, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
As long as the information is on Wikipedia, it's not going here, and if you try to remove it, some other person will revert your edit at Wikipedia and give you a warning. KS3 (talk)
I have enough now. It was explicitly asked by two admins to drop this discussion. The next one to continue it will receive a penality. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 22:36, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
If this discussion is a problem, then people can go away from the page. It harms no one that this discussion is still going on. But since you've gone to the point of threatening dissenting opinions, I reckon I'll drop it. - NARCE 22:42, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Eh, I changed my mind. Do whatever you want on this page, as long as you restrain from flaming each other. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 22:47, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
This wiki has become a nightmare now. It's more horrible then back then around January, where I my brother am being blocked constantly for some reason. KS3 (talk)

Still, when you upload it to Wikipedia, is part of Wikipedia. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 23:43, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (being a smug blowhard) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Alright, listen up. It is our policy that content shall not be copied from Wikipedia onto the Super Mario Wiki. Ever. You can argue that this is stupid 27 ways and it won't make a bit of difference. You follow the policy or you leave the site. End of discussion.

If you've got a problem with that, maybe I'll ban you for a year or two until you transform into a more serious contributor. No, that's not a joke. Tread lightly. - 2257(Talk) 23:17, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

I was around way back when this site was copying entire Wikipedia articles, and I was one of the people who fought to have them removed [and we threatened with a permaban as well]. The rule is in place to require users to put effort into their work, not just lift things other people wrote. The reasons of the rule do not apply to this situation at all. - NARCE 23:22, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Eh Hey[edit]

Aren't you going to remove the Block Template from your userpage? You can remove the block template yourself when unblocked. They're not like Warnings... Mr Man 07:49, 31 October 2011 (EDT)
