Red Paragoombas or Paragoombas (Red) are enemies introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3. They are red-colored Paragoombas that, unlike their normal counterparts, are faster and more aggressive towards the player character.
History
Super Mario Bros. 3 / Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
Red Paragoombas make their debut in Super Mario Bros. 3. Unlike normal Paragoombas who attack by flying in the sky and dropping Micro-Goombas, Red Paragoombas attack by loosely following Mario and hopping low along the ground, with a larger jump every third hop. Jumping on one makes it lose its wings, leaving a red Goomba that behaves like normal Goombas. They first appear in World 1-1 and reappear in World 1-2, World 1-3, World 2-4, World 3-4, World 6-1, World 6-10 and World 7-9. In the remake Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, Red Paragoombas also appear in the World-e levels: Ice Dungeon, A Musical Trek, Rich with Ropes, Slidin' the Slopes and Treacherous Halls.
Super Princess Peach
Red Paragoombas return in Super Princess Peach, where they have the same traits as in Super Mario Bros. 3, only being able to hop. However, they can jump low and high. The game also introduces a variety of Rage-induced Red Paragoombas called M. Red P-Goombas, who charge at Princess Peach. Both respond the same to attacks as Paragoombas in other 2D titles, in that one stomp takes away their wings. They first appear in Ladida Plains 1-2 and reappear in Ladida Plains 1-3, Ladida Plains 1-5, Wavy Beach 5-5 and Gleam Glacier 6-5.
