The Work Pants are Mario's default gear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions. Luigi's counterpart to them are the Work Jeans. Having them equipped gives a small, 4-point DEF boost. They can be sold for ten coins, but not recovered.

The Bean Trousers are a type of gear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, available to both Mario and Luigi. They are available for 130 coins in the original or 140 coins in the remake. They are bought the Castle Town Fashion House after Queen Bean is defeated, and as such are one of the earliest items purchasable there, as well as the earliest overall-type gear available to both bros. It increases DEF by 10 and HP by 4 in the original and DEF by 15 and BP by 4 in the remake, but does not have any special effects.

In the original, they give a DEF boost of 16 points, as well as boost to HP of 5 points. They can be obtained in the Beanbean Castle Town Clothes Shop for 220 coins, available after Queen Bean is defeated.

In the remake, they now give a DEF boost of 14 points. They now have the HP-Auto Gain effect, recovering 5 HP at the end of every turn. They can be obtained in the Chateau de Chucklehuck. They only sell for three coins.

In the original, they give a DEF boost of 10 points in the Japanese version or an HP boost of 7 in international releases, while in the remake, they give a DEF boost of 20 points. They also have the DEF-Up effect, temporarily adding an extra 50% of Mario's base DEF at the start of the battle. In the original, they cost 180 coins regardless of region, while in the remake, they cost 330 coins.

In the original, they are exclusive to Mario and give a DEF boost of 18 points. They cost 125 coins in the Japanese version and 130 coins in international versions.

In the remake, they can now be worn by both Mario and Luigi, and give a DEF boost of 24 points, as well as a BP boost of 6 points. In addition, they have the Auto Guard effect, making them automatically activate the Emergency Guard before an enemy hits the wearer. They now cost 350 coins.

In the remake, they give a DEF boost of 26 points. In addition, they have the Mushroom Recover effect, which makes it so that Mushrooms also recover status aliments for the wearer, in addition to their usual healing. They are located in a ? Block inside the Woohoo Hooniversity, and sell for only three coins.

A similar piece of gear called Heart Wear appears in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake.

They have the "First Strike" effect, so having them equipped allows the brother to start the battle able to move first, regardless of their respective SPEED stat. They can be purchased in the Beanbean Castle Town Clothes Shop after Peach arrives in the Beanbean Kingdom. They cost 1280 coins in the Japanese version and 250 coins in international versions.

In the remake, they can be worn by both Mario and Luigi. They instead give 10 BP and 52 SPEED. They can be obtained in the southern part of Beanbean Fields or from an amiibo stamp. They only sell for three coins.

In the original, they can be worn by both Mario and Luigi, and they give a DEF boost of 35 points. In addition, they have the 60% Poison Dodge effect, giving a 60% chance to evade the Poison status. They are available for purchase after Princess Peach arrives in the Beanbean Kingdom. They can be sold for 230 coins in the Japanese version or 220 coins in international releases.

In the remake, they can now only be worn by Luigi and give a DEF boost of 38 points, as well as a HP boost of 15 points. They now have the Poison Dodge effect, which grants total immunity to the Poison status. They are available for purchase after leaving Oho Oasis after the Beanstar breaks apart.

In the original game's Japanese version, they give a DEF boost of 35 points, while in international releases, they give a DEF boost of 50 points. They can be purchased for 200 coins in the Japanese version and 380 coins in international releases. In the Japanese version, they also appear as rare drops from several "Bro"-type enemies, being Yo Bros, Boomerang Bros, the stronger version of Limbo Bros, Hammer Bros, and Chomp Bros, each needing the Advanced Swing Bros. attack or having the Game Boy Horror SP equipped.

In the remake, they give a DEF boost of 40 points and have the Emergency Guard effect, strengthening the effectiveness of the Emergency Guard move in battle. They can be purchased for 680 coins, and also can appear as rare drops from Yo Bros and the weaker version of Limbo Bros.

Their effect, called Mario Ahead in the original and Before Mario in the remake, allows Luigi to attack immediately before Mario does regardless of their or their enemies' respective SPEED stats. In all versions, they are available for purchase from the Little Fungitown Fashion House after defeating Popple and Birdo in Teehee Valley.

In the original, they give a DEF boost of 55 points in the Japanese version and 70 points in international releases. They cost 2200 coins in the Japanese version, which is decreased immensely to 280 coins in international releases.

In the remake, they give a DEF boost of 86 points and a BP boost of 15 points. Their price is raised back to 2200 coins.
