A massive Crazee Dayzee (initially referred to as the Moon) is the final creature encountered in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and serves as the final boss of the game. Throughout the game, it initially appears as the "moon" in the backgrounds of several habitats, before later being explored as the main setting of the eponymous Chapter 10: Moon.
Completion of Yu Ef Oh Base allows the moon to be directly explored as its own habitat, where it culminates in a boss fight against the core of the moon itself.
History
Background
- “By the way, Yoshis, did you notice? The moon wasn't a moon at all. It was an enormous Crazee Dayzee! We saw many similar Crazee Dayzee trees growing down on the surface, didn't we?”

After completing this creature's habitat, Mr. E reveals that the "moon" was actually an enormous Crazee Dayzee that survived long enough to grow gigantic. Special pages unlocked for completing challenges in Chapter 12: Mr. E's Challenges reveal how this particular Crazee Dayzee came to be.
Long ago, a Crazee Dayzee chose to settle in a "perfect spot" in the soil to sprout, and spread its vines very far while also wrapping some of them to aid in its growth. For countless years, the Crazee Dayzee tree grew until it became so massive that its face appeared to resemble a moon. Its massive tree-like stalk also came to be known by its moniker, "The Tallest of Trees".
Inside the face of the massive Crazee Dayzee hides many of its seeds, waiting to be distributed across the planet's surface. Once its growth cycle ends, the face begins to separate from the stalk, crashing down to the planet. When it makes contact with the surface, it bursts apart and scatters its seeds. To the planet's inhabitants, it may seem to them as if the "moon is falling".
Prior to the events of the game, scientists from "another world" came to the unnamed planet to study and research the native creatures residing there, building a base on the apparent moon to avoid disturbing the habitats. The scientists used the massive stalk connected to the "moon" to commute to the planet and back, visiting habitats and studying the creatures in secret. Eventually, the scientists learned that the moon was destined to fall, so they quickly abandoned base and returned safely to their home planet, knowing that their research had already taught them well.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
After completing Yu Ef Oh Base, the moon within Mr. E's pages begins to violently shake. Believing that the moon itself is the cause behind the shaking, Mr. E allows Yoshi to explore it as a "habitat" to investigate. Within the pages, Yoshi finds Kamek and Bowser Jr., who are also experiencing the shaking of the moon, before they are ambushed by strange vine-like growths and are pulled underground by them. The Blorp that Bowser Jr. was carrying transforms into the same Bewilder Bird that had accompanied Yoshi earlier, and helps Yoshi dig underground to chase after the captured duo.
Once Yoshi reaches the arena, he encounters the Moon's core, which is about to absorb Bowser Jr. and Kamek. However, it is too late as the core absorbs them, forms a shield around itself and faces off against Yoshi and the Bewilder Bird. During the final battle, the moon begins to dislodge from its "stalk" and begins a collision course towards the planet. Yoshi eventually destroys the moon's core as quickly as possible, freeing Bowser Jr. and Kamek. Without the core, the moon begins to violently shake and then eventually explode, although everyone was able to escape through a portal created from a three-star discovery.
Overview
At the beginning of the "Moon" habitat, Bowser Jr. and Kamek are captured by the creature's vines, and must be rescued. While Yoshi and Bewilder Bird are digging through the habitat's underground maze, Yoshi may encounter any of the creature's vines, which chase after him. If Yoshi gets caught by one of the vines, he is forcibly ejected out of the ground and must dig down to the underground maze once again. These vines can also be destroyed by drilling into them using Hauger. After navigating the habitat's underground maze, Yoshi encounters the moon's core and begins the final boss battle.
Boss battle
After the moon's core consumes Bowser Jr. and Kamek, it causes the moon itself to fall from its stalk. Yoshi must defeat the moon's core as quickly as possible within ten minutes (as displayed on a timer). Yoshi must destroy the core's shield to deal damage to the core, using any damage-dealing creatures that the Bewilder Bird can transform into. This includes thrown Slugarangs and Huffin Puffins, ramming into the core using Jetty Jelly or Hauger, spraying water via Wash Squash, among others.
Initially, the moon's core hovers around Yoshi without attacking at first. Each time damage is dealt, the core will regrow its shield, and will have to be attacked again by Yoshi. After enough damage, the core summons vertical vine walls with weak spots that move up and down, in an attempt to push away Yoshi and prevent him from attacking the core. Bewilder Bird must transform into a creature that can be used to damage the weak spots and destroy the vines, to help Yoshi reach the boss. The core may also surround itself with clouds of purple gas that will force Bewilder Bird to transform back and make Yoshi fall asleep if they come in contact with it. The purple gas must be dispersed of with water blasts from either Wash Squash or Jetty Jelly before attacking.
Later, the creature begins to reveal rocky platforms, alongside vines that grow semisolid leafy platforms in the upper parts of the arena. Yoshi must jump onto the platforms quickly, as the arena will also get filled with lava. The core summons the same vines from earlier but with molten openings that require a water-spraying creature to destroy, like Jetty Jelly or Wash Squash. Circular swarms of Bunchabees may also surround the boss to target and distract Yoshi, but they can also be swallowed for eggs or destroyed by other means.
After damaging it again, the moon's core begins to fill the arena with water, then creates a current to push Yoshi to the other side. To counter this, the Bewilder Bird must transform into a Bafloonder, so Yoshi can swim against the current and attack the core. Bubbles also appear in this phase, which the Bafloonder can use to replenish air if it runs out. The core may also summon a circle of green blade-like projectiles that spread out and must be swam through. After taking damage again, the boss will summon vertical vines that push Yoshi back, then manifest four rotating vines that can be destroyed underwater by tossing a Huffin Puffin at their weak spots.
Finally, the core will weaken, without regrowing a shield, and drain all the water from the arena. It will rapidly bounce around the arena, making it harder to hit. Yoshi must damage the core one last time to finally clear the boss fight. After freeing Bowser Jr. and Kamek, everyone escapes the moon before it explodes. If Yoshi fails to defeat the moon's core before the timer runs out, a cutscene will show where the moon begins tumbling down to the planet below, instantly defeating Yoshi and forcing him to start the boss battle from the beginning again.

Notes
- After completion of this creature's habitat, the Bewilder Bird can also be made to transform into the core of the massive Crazee Dayzee/moon. However, the core does nothing but bounce around.
- Crazee Dayzee, as the moon, features the least amount of discoveries out of any creature studied in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, with only four discoveries associated with it.
- According to the supplementary text included within its discoveries section, the moon's core is capable of absorbing the life force of other creatures to turn into energy.

Naming
This creature is initially named as the "Moon" at first, due to its face appearing to resemble the Earth's moon. After learning that the creature turns out to be a gigantic Crazee Dayzee, Mr. E will automatically rename the moon to match the creature it is related to.
