Hi, I am Maw-Ray Master, a Maw-Ray who contributes as an editor on the Super Mario Wiki. I mainly specialize in adding and citating foreign names for subjects on the wiki, though I also occasionally focus on documenting obscure and lesser-known media.

Overview
I first became interested in foreign languages when I took a Spanish class in middle school; it was my first exposure to a language besides English outside of the occasional French and Spanish text that can occasionally be seen. I would later take two more Spanish language classes in high school, as well as two Japanese language classes. For a time, I also attempted to learn Polish and Romanian, but I did not as much success as with Spanish and Japanese. I am currently building my Norwegian vocabulary so that I will be able to write and speak in Norwegian. I have also become interested in languages and linguistics in general, and intend to find the etymologies of words with obfuscated origins.
As can be implied by name, I also have an interest in eels, or anguilas, as I call them, anguila being the Spanish word for "eel". Eels look like underwater-dwelling versions of snakes. I became interested eels after becoming interested in Eelektross, a navy blue lamprey-like Pokémon. I like all eels, but my favorite type of eels are lampreys[a] (which Eelektross is based on), due their mouths appearing to be some sort of sucker. Some people might find this off-putting, but I think it's cute.
Outside the Super Mario Wiki, I also contribute on Wiktionary under the username Transducer1, where I mainly add cognates for words and occasionally explaining the etymologies of words; Wiktionary is an extension of my interest in languages and linguistics. I am a native speaker of English, but I also know some Spanish as well as a little Galician, Norwegian, and Japanese.
My brother also contributed on the Super Mario Wiki under the username Jaxsonjayson55.

Footnotes
- ^ Scientifically, lampreys are not biologically related to eels, and are only analogously similar; lampreys are part of the order Petromyzontiformes, while eels are part of the order Anguilliformes. Despite this, most people would casually refer to all serpentine-like fish as eels, as I do here.
