Hello, all of you readers of The 'Shroom! I'd like to keep this short for all of you so you can go and read the rest of the paper, so let me get right into it by, first and foremost, thanking all of you for the support you have shown myself and Waluigi Time in the election! It means a great deal to us that you have put your trust in us to lead the paper this year, particular since this year brings with it such an important milestone for the paper. We will work as hard as we possibly can this year to properly show our gratitude to all of you!
I would also like to thank my predecessor, now working hand-in-hand with me as the other half of the Directing Staff, Waluigi Time (talk). He has done an astounding job stepping up into the position of Director halfway through the year on top of shifting into the Fake News Director role. The transition was an extremely smooth one, which speaks to how well Waluigi Time adapted to the role and his ability to keep a pulse on the community. Thank you so much for keeping things running smoothly, Waluigi Time, and thank you for joining me to do the same this year!
At this point in time, we have no changes in staff to announce. We have an excellent team working with us, and I am fully confident that this team will not only continue to carry the paper through this year, but, particularly with issue 200 on the horizon, will be able to elevate the paper this year. We will continue to grow and improve the quality of the paper however and whenever we can, but, of course, this year we will also place a special emphasis on preparing for a major milestone issue in November. I have great confidence we will deliver something spectacular come November.
My personal hope is that issue 200 reflects in miniature the astounding talent and wonderful sense of camaraderie we have in this community. I have seen the amazing creativity of this community in its games, in its events, in its stories, in the art and music its artists produce, in the gifts that members of the community have exchanged, in this paper, and, really, in most everything that this community has produced. I have also seen the joy it has brought to so many. I hope that all of us here can share in that creativity and joy, that every member of this community can contribute something special to issue 200 and can feel a sense of pride in showcasing how much this community can create and do together. All of you who are a part of this community and have found some joy in it, all of you who read and enjoy The 'Shroom, all of you who write for the paper, I'd like to invite you to join us in making issue 200 a true milestone celebration of this paper and this community.
With that bit of sentimentalism out of the way, I see no reason to delay any longer. We've got a big year ahead of us, so thank you once more for trusting us, and let's get to work!
