Model[edit]

Just asking, but is the article picture of the in-game model? It sort of looks like it. (It's so cute and scary XD)--TimTamChimchar 23:51, 19 January 2011 (EST)

Why are they in the babies category?--Artwork of Yoshi for Mario Party 4Yoshidude99 14:58, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

Isn't their name conjectural? And shouldn't the conjecture template be added and trivia about their name be removed if it is? User:8BrickMario

There is a source, I think. --APA TKB Umbreon, from Pokémon. 10:18, 2 July 2013 (EDT)

Is there? On the Whomp King's discussion, it seemed like it was made up on this wiki. User:8BrickMario

The link is a bad link. You mean this one? EDIT: I added the template.

Official name?[edit]

If there is no official name for this, can't we just move the article to its official Japanese name? And if there is one, where is the source? BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 18:42, 17 June 2014 (EDT)

That makes sense. The Japanese name is in the article. Let's move it. Bowser Jr., in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.Triple K, Skye 18:46, 17 June 2014 (EDT)

Do we have a source for Whimp being the French name, or should that be removed? Toad's sprite in Excitebike: Bun Bun Mario Battle wow it's Kiryu (TC) 16:20, 9 April 2016 (EDT)

Internal filename: romanization?[edit]

The names in other languages might come from Super Mario Encyclopedia. Since it has a definitive Japanese name, the internal filename is a romanization of the Japanese name. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 02:16, 8 November 2018 (EST)

They were on their before it was released in any language, I believe. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:52, 9 November 2018 (EST)
Does the Prima give them a name, or were they just referred as King Whomp's minion? If so, the only name we have is Pattan, and if there is no mention at all, the only name we have is also Pattan. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 10:20, 2 December 2018 (EST)
It isn't even mentioned. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:21, 3 December 2018 (EST)
I was thinking a bit about it... Someone emailed Nintendo of America for Wario Land II enemies names, i may possibly ask them for some enemies name. Such as "Whimp" (this page now called Pattan), Petari, Spring Topman, and the beams that are currently named by their internal filenames. Am i allowed to do that? We usually use names given by Nintendo of America when it has a definitive english name, or when there is not, we use the internal filename. Although, Pattan seems to be their Japanese name, and Petari doesn't seem to be an english word. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 05:32, 9 January 2019 (EST)
TBH they'd probably just use SMBE themselves. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 05:35, 9 January 2019 (EST)
Possibly, as they approved it. Maybe we can tell them to ignore it, and they just them with brand new names. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 05:43, 9 January 2019 (EST)
I disapprove of telling them to come up with a different name, as it's basically demanding they go on a whim retroactively. Most likely there was no official English name for this minor enemy back in the day, which is exactly why Encyclopedia used Whimp (whether or not Nintendo was conscious of where it came from). If they come back with a different name on their own, great, but if not, we already know it's not usable. We're lucky enough to have solid answers on Wario Land II (and Virtual Boy Wario Land). LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:00, 11 January 2019 (EST)
There IS no official english name. In fact, Pattan is the Japanese name (as i already mentioned). Was the book released in UK? Or the english translation only came out in United States of America? If it's also released in UK, no luck on that. (i'm also thinking about Bakky and other "Bakky" enemies, since Rare Ltd., the UK developer left Nintendo). Anyways, this is off topic, as we are talking about the Whimp. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 09:56, 14 January 2019 (EST)
I wonder why i haven't removed my "Do not allow the book to be cited" vote... I at least hoped that the book would have been partially allowed to be cited. Should i change the "passed" into "red", which is in the archive, or i am not allowed to do that? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 10:07, 15 January 2019 (EST)
It would be better if we just used the Prima guide for Super Mario Galaxy 2 at this point. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 10:37, 15 January 2019 (EST)
@Toadette, LinkTheLefty said that it wasn't even mentioned. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 10:44, 15 January 2019 (EST)
I was kinda insterested[sic] on the "Allow the book to be cited" option, but did not vote because i wasn't aware about Whimp being named after its Japanese name. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 09:10, 16 January 2019 (EST)
It was released in europe and italy too and they're called Thwimp. LetsPlayNintendoITA (talk) 20:51, November 27, 2019 (EST)
