Merge content on Goop Generator with Polluted Piranha 4-0
It's my understanding that the Goop Generator and the Polluted Piranha are one and the same. There may be different types of both, but you never see one without the other, even in Mario Power Tennis and Mario Golf: Advance Tour. "Goop Generator" isn't listed in-game, in the manual, or in the Nintendo Power guide. There's a chance it's in another guide, but I don't see a point to keeping this page separate anyway even if it did have a name.

This was even brought up in the comments section of a proposal on the Polluted Piranha's talk page:

I don't understand why we even have separate articles for Goop Generator and Piranha Plant in the Generator, since the piranha plant is just an extention of the generator. You never encounter a plant without a generator (unlike Bullet Bills or Bob-ombs), and every generator has at least one plant. You could say the plants are the heads and the generator is the body. Once you destroy all the heads, the body dies, and the generator vanishes. For me that's enough to consider it one big creature. We don't have, iirc, separate articles for body parts (King Bob-omb's Mustache, olol), so the two things should be merged to Goop Generator, Polluted Piranha Plant, or whatever fancy name that comes to mind. - Edofenrir (talk)

@ Rise Up Above It - I agree with Edofenrir too, but there's no reason why we can't simply change the title of the article and then merge it to Goop Generator if that's what people want...my main priority is getting the name changed, but I can also see where merging the two articles would be useful as well. I just think we should handle that with two separate proposals... Phoenix (talk) 14:39, 26 February 2011 (EST)
Yeah, that would be a viable option. - Edofenrir (talk)

That second proposal never happened until now, as far as I can tell. Long story short (or tl;dr or however that goes), I'm proposing this information gets merged with Polluted Piranha. Doesn't matter if a name can be found, having two pages cover the same thing doesn't seem necessary at all (and the name can always be added to the Polluted Piranha page if one is found).

Merge "Goop Generator" with Polluted Piranha[edit]

  1. Alex95 (talk) - This option preferred.
  2. YoshiFlutterJump (talk) Per Alex95.
  3. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per proposal.
  4. Wildgoosespeeder (talk) Something tells me that Goop Generator is {{conjecture}}, but we need to wait and see if a source shows up if it is an official name. Merge for now. There are just three color variants (red/orange/yellow, brown, and black) on Polluted Piranhas with slightly different properties, not two and Goop Generator. Also, at least we have a source for the name of the Polluted Piranha compared to Goop Generator.

Keep them separate[edit]

Petey Piranha in Super Mario Sunshine
Graffiti-covered Piranha Plants

What about the Stu generator in Bianco Hills episode 1? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:08, 22 April 2018 (EDT)

Seems to be the one exception of the group. These are also in the Pinna Park beach secret, but they seem to be something completely different. They don't look or act the same as the Polluted Piranha generators. It may be something similar to those graffiti Os everywhere, but instead of spawning a Blue Coin, it spawns enemies. A weak comparison, but OK. "Stu generator" still probably deserves an article. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:29, 22 April 2018 (EDT)
Maybe. That should probably be a separate conversation. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:30, 22 April 2018 (EDT)

Do we have an article for the Piranha Plants pictured? I don't think we do considering {{Super Mario Sunshine}}. These appear in Petey Piranha Strikes Back in regular brown graffiti. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 12:26, 23 April 2018 (EDT)

Aren't those regular Piranha Plants? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:31, 23 April 2018 (EDT)
Not sure how I feel with that merge. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 12:34, 23 April 2018 (EDT)
Yes, those are generic inflatable enemy Piranha Plants, Polluted Piranha Plants are the miniboss-type entities. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:13, 23 April 2018 (EDT)

@WildGooseSpeeder there are three of both, all of which have different properties. Orange-and-pink do nothing, brown spawns Goobles, Black spawns Goobles and replenishes the washable Goop around it. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:14, 23 April 2018 (EDT)

Yes, I'm aware. My vote reflects the difference. Also, I played the game. The black one requires two rounds to kill off (six uses of F.L.U.D.D. for its mouth). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 11:28, 24 April 2018 (EDT)
Yeah, but that's specifically the "piranha" portion. Your wording in the vote made me think you meant there were only two types of generators and three of Polluted Piranhas, when there's three of each, intrinsically linked. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:42, 24 April 2018 (EDT)
