Penpen is one of the available sprites in Family BASIC. Penpen is a blue penguin with an orange-pink beak and feet. This sprite would later be modified and reused as the players' sprite in the port of Binary Land for the Family Computer. Penpen also appears on the biorhythm board in Playbox BASIC.
Penpen appears in multiple officially-distributed minigames featuring Super Mario content. In Penpen Meiro, one of the sample minigames provided with Family BASIC V3, Penpen is to collect a series of numbers on a blue grid while avoiding Sidesteppers. Penpen is able to place traps to temporarily stun the Sidesteppers. Penpen also appears in BIO-TECH, an official minigame created by Hudson Soft. In this minigame, Penpen appears as one of the sprites that the enemies on the playing field may assume.
