Morita‑san chi no Mario‑kun is a minigame playable in Family BASIC V3. Instructions to code the minigame were published by Natsumesha in the licensed magazine Family Computer and Family BASIC Perfect Book.

Gameplay

The player controls Mario, with the object of the game being to reach Lady at the top of the stage before the Fire. The Fire enemy cannot damage Mario. Each of the platforms that the player must run across also feature apples, which the player is to collect. As Mario is unable to jump, players must use ladders to reach the top of the stage. Players are also able to run off the sides of the screen to immediately move to the opposite side of the platform. After reaching the top of the stage, the player will be brought to the next level. The only difference between levels appears to be the speed of the Fire and the placement of the apples. By the fifth level, it does not appear to be possible to reach the top of the stage before the Fire due to the speed increase. If the Fire reaches the top of the stage before Mario, the game will end and the player will have the option to try again.
