  1. ^ a b While this name is explicitly associated with the original Donkey Kong arcade game, its association is dependent on contexts where a distinction is explicitly made between the pink-dressed iteration of the character from the arcade game and the red-dressed iteration introduced in the Donkey Kong Game Boy game that subsequently appears in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series, Super Mario Odyssey, and most other media. Consequently, the association of this name with the arcade title, while attested, is anachronistic.
