Blocks[1] are the main building elements in Mario Artist: Polygon Studio. They can be used in the Block Dome to assemble creations, which can then be used in other modes such as the Stage UFO and Jikken World. Block can be from one of five categories:
- Parts Blocks (パーツブロック, pātsu burokku): Basic blocks that act as the body of the build.
- Animation Blocks (アニメーションブロック, animēshon burokku): Animated blocks that move in certain ways.
- Sound Blocks (サウンドブロック, saundo burokku): Blocks that continuously emmit sounds.
- ? Blocks (?ブロック, ? burokku): Bonus blocks that can be used as decoration on a creation. Unlocked by finding them in Jikken World.
- Dōryoku Blocks (どうりょくブロク, dōryoku burokku, "Power Blocks"): Blocks that act as wheels or legs, allowing creations to move. More are unlocked by finding them in Jikken World.
In Jikken World, the player can find more ? blocks and Dōryoku blocks to use in their creations. Dōryoku blocks specifically grant different traits to vehicles using them. Other blocks that can be used in Mario Artist: Polygon Studio, such as Parts, Animation and Sound Blocks, cannot be found in Jikken World as they are unlocked by default.
Parts Blocks[edit]
Animation blocks[edit]
Animation blocks perform quick animations in a loop. In Jikken World, they are animated only when the vehicle is moving.
バルカンほう
("Vulcan gun")
Sound Blocks[edit]
Sound Blocks periodically make sounds from various instruments and other sound effects. Unlike Animation Blocks, Sound Blocks play constantly in Jikken World, regardless of the vehicle being in movement.

Dōryoku Blocks[edit]
Each Dōryoku Block is characterized by a power rating, as well as by their ability to perform in specific types of terrain. Some blocks only work properly when touching the ground and rotated correctly. The following is a list of traits each Dōryoku Block may have:
- Power: Rated from zero to five stars. Determines how fast the vehicle can with that block.
Sand driving: If the block can drive on sand.
Snow driving: If the block can drive on snow.
Thorns driving: If the block can drive on terrain made of pink thorns.
Swimming: If the block can propel the vehicle when underwater.
Flying: If the block can propel the vehicle through the air.
Climbing: If the block can stick to and walk on vertical surfaces
Floating on water: If the block can float on water
Gliding: If the block can glide unpowered through the air.
Floating on air: If the block can float upwards on air.
Grip: If the block can enable better handling when sliding on surfaces such as ice.
Besides those stats, blocks can have other properties. Leg blocks can jump higher, while blocks such as the metal belt are better suited for going up steep inclines. Blocks capable of gliding also have a maximum altitude they can reach. Being attacked by a tube creature, falling from a great height or hitting a wall when going too fast causes the player's vehicle to lose a block, which can only be regained by exiting Jikken World and re-entering it.

1 - Maximum speed varies. See Notes section below
Notes[edit]
- The speed engine block increases a block's maximum speed depending on the type of block and the ambient it is in.
- A maximum of around 41 Km/h for the robot legs on ground.
- A maximum of around 100 Km/h for every wheel on ground.
- A maximum of around 291 Km/h for the airplane propellers and jets on air.
- A maximum of around 78 Km/h for airplane propellers, water propellers and the water wheel when underwater.
- The Power Star block increases a block's maximum speed like the speed engine, except it also increases the speed of "living" blocks, which is made up of animal legs and wings.
