Full name Barbara the Bat
First appearance Daigasso! Band Brothers (2004)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008, Mario series)
Latest appearance Super Mario Maker (2015 - 2016) (as a costume)

Barbara is the mascot of Daigasso! Band Brothers, the Japan-exclusive predecessor to Jam with the Band. She is the arrogant owner of the music shop of Waruwaru Town, GB Music, and helps the player throughout the game. She appears as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When she appears, Barbara strums her guitar for a few seconds, releasing sound waves that moderately damages opponents and knocks them back. Her last sound wave is larger and stronger than the other ones.

Barbara later appears in Super Mario Maker as an add-on Mystery Mushroom costume for Costume Mario. It can be unlocked by clearing the "Barbara in Tomatoland" Event Course, which was released on February 25, 2016.

Barbara appears in a web comic strip posted on April 01, 2016 on Nintendo's Japanese kids website[1] called Ashley Meets Halloween and Barbara and Ashley. In the strip, Barbara hires Ashley to sing at her live club, but she struggles due to her shyness. Barbara watches Ashley and smugly thinks Ashley will make her rich, but soon after this, the witch falls asleep on stage, to Barbara's dismay.

DS Master of Illusion
The manager of the music store GB Music in Waruwaru Town—her real name is Barbara the Bat. She leads the player through the game, showing her arrogant attitude as she cracks the whip at others but pampers herself. Her little brother's name is Tingtin the Bat. By the way, the "GB" in the name of her store stands for "Great Barbara," NOT "Game Boy."

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS[edit]

Barbara SSB3DS Barbara Trophy.png As the manager of a slightly dubious talent agency, Barbara's always looking for people who want to join a band. She'll even teach you to play—whether you ask her or not. It's best to let her think she's taking advantage of you, even if she really isn't. Her hidden theme music really illustrates the contrast of darkness and light in her soul...or something.
