(Rewrite, feels like a lot of the Mario RPG articles have this constant "trying to integrate the article into some unknown story" thing going on, what with the constant abuse of past tense and just being obtusely written)

In battle, Shrooba Divers employed a variety of attacks and techniques to defeat their opponents. First, a Shrooba Diver digs in the sand and pull out various objects to harm the Mario brothers with. A Shrooba Diver may pull out a Spiny Egg and toss it at the Mario brother. This attack can be jumped over. The hand it throws it with determines which brother will get hit. Occasionally, the green Shroob would pull out a Sand Cheep from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga that bounces, meaning the fish would flop right over the Mario brother's head, which can fake out the Mario brother. Secondly, a Shrooba Diver could tunnel under the sand (indicating which brother it is going to attack beforehand), leap out, then dive into a Mario brother. This attack could be countered with a Hammer. Lastly, a Shrooba Diver would try to swim into a brother. This can be countered with a jump attack.

Shrooba Divers will tunnel under the sand and leap out to try and dive into Mario or Luigi, indicating their targets beforehand; their baby counterparts can counter this attack with the hammer. They can also try to swim directly into one of the Bros., who can counter with a jump. Occasionally, the Divers may pull out a Spiny Egg and toss it at Mario or Luigi, who must jump over it to avoid being hit; the hand it uses to throw with determines which brother is being targeted. Sometimes the Shrooba Diver will pull out a Sand Cheep instead, which bounces overhead when thrown and will damage the Bros. if they jump into it.
