Not to be confused with Petey Piranha.

Template:GBoss-infobox Peewee Piranha is a boss who appears in the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It appears in the Sky Station Galaxy.

Mario first encounters the creature enclosed in an egg, much like the Dino Piranha in the first game. The boss looks very similar to the Dino Piranha, except for the fact that it has green petals, and its entire backside is always protected by the eggshell unless hit. The Peewee Piranha attacks mainly by charging at Mario, much like its predecessor. Mario will need to hit the shell to expose its bulbous and throbbing bright orange rear end. After Mario hits the Peewee Piranha from behind thrice, including breaking the eggshell and revealing its enormous bottom, it will become angry like Dino Piranha and attempt to kill Mario. It will reform its shell for protection and begin to charge at him again. Its attacks are now much faster and it can also lunge at the plumber. Mario will need to hit the eggshell, reveal its huge underside, and hit its behind again to defeat it, granting Mario the Power Star. This boss appears in the mission, "Peewee Piranha's Temper Tantrum".

The player does face Peewee Piranha twice, with the second fight being under the Speedy Comet conditions.

Trivia

  • Like Dino Piranha from the first Super Mario Galaxy, Peewee Piranha resembles Petey Piranha, with one particular feature that he doesn't (in his case, the eggshell) that must be attacked. Also, both are the first boss of their respective games and are first encountered enclosed in an egg.
  • Peewee's name derives from the word "pee-wee", which is a word that can be used to describe something small or immature, which Peewee Piranha obviously is, and may have also derived from Petey Piranha.
  • Every time Peewee Piranha takes a step, a squeaking noise can be heard.
