"Dadzilla" is the ninth episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. It aired alongside another episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 entitled "Tag Team Trouble".

Plot synopsis

Kootie Pie is applying makeup when she hears King Koopa coming to see if her room is clean. He warns her that if her "pigsty" that she calls a bedroom is not yet clean, she will be grounded. She hides the mess in her wardrobe. It at first seems to be clean, but when everything drops out from it, Koopa is not fooled and he grounds her, which infuriates her. Kootie Pie complains about having a rotten father, and just as Big Mouth intrudes, Kootie Pie figures that Koopa must not be her real father. The two also decide that their father must be someone magnificent, like a movie star.

Meanwhile, Mario and Toad are searching for a Fire Flower when the Doom Ship collides with them. Mario and Toad tumble right into a patch of Fire Flowers, but soon notice the Doom Ship. It is revealed that the two Koopalings are in the Doom Ship's bridge trying to pilot it (which is why they crashed into Mario) and arguing over which way leads to Hollywood. The Doom Ship flies into a Warp Pipe, but not before ripping the roof off of Toad's house. Luigi and Princess Toadstool run out and Toad explains what happens. The group decides that they must follow the Koopas.

In Hollywood, Kootie Pie and Big Mouth find themselves amongst the Walk of Fame, when a giant reptilian monster named Madzilla appears from behind a building. They decide that the monster must be their true father, only to see a film director turn the monster off with a remote control. Still believing Madzilla is their father, the two try to help Madzilla with their magic wands. Once he wakes up, he scares off the confused director and places the Koopalings on top of a building. Big Mouth explains how Madzilla put them up for adoption (or at least their beliefs thereof) and they request Madzilla get them a convertible. Instantly, Madzilla takes a car off the road, rips off the roof, places the "convertible" on the roof, and sticks the two Koopalings in it. However, they tell him it is not good enough, and so begins their long line of demands from him.

Meanwhile in a separate area of Hollywood, Mario, Luigi, Toad, and the Princess pop out of a Warp Pipe in a sewage area. Mario tells the gang to follow him until they see Dadzilla storming through the city. Kootie and Big Mouth then catch Mario out of the corner out of their eye, and Kootie Pie tells them about how they did "terrible things to [them]". Madzilla grabs Mario by his overalls, when Mario remembers his Fire Flower. He burns Madzilla's hand and gets ready to fight him, when Kootie Pie decides that Madzilla needs help and wears Mario's powers away with her scepter. The gang is chased by Madzilla into a props garage, but the Koopalings announce bigger things to attend to: their becoming of movie stars.

While Kootie Pie, Big Mouth, and Madzilla put their feet in the cement in the Walk of Fame, Mario explains an idea of his to the gang. He points out a large head that greatly resembles Madzilla - or at least a female version of him. Luigi recognizes it from the monster movie "Revenge of Madzilla's Mom". Mario then tells them that they can rebuild Madzilla's Mom to counter the Koopas.

Madzilla tries to catch up on his rest when Big Mouth and Kootie Pie tell him they want to perform a live concert for everybody in the Hollywood Bowl immediately. Somewhat annoyed, Madzilla heads for the Hollywood Bowl, pulls it out of the ground, and places it over Big Mouth and Kootie Pie. They then begin playing "Stomp My Name on the Walk of Fame". The audience hates it and throws assorted objects at them, like catapulting various items off of a palm tree, and then throwing the palm tree at them. The Koopalings manage to dodge most of the items thrown at them until the end of their performance, at which point they are both hit.

Back in the props garage, Mario activates Madzilla's Mom, which is crudely built out of several monster body parts. It takes off to find Madzilla, as the gang watches. The Koopalings are now buried in garbage thrown at them. Kootie Pie crawls out and screams at Madzilla. He tries to cheer for them, and the audience directs their garbage at him. He attacks the audience for not cheering, when his "mother" appears. She (really Mario) tells Madzilla to put the people down, when Kootie Pie objects, telling him he is only supposed to obey them. Madzilla's Mom looks down at the two Koopalings, then tells them it is time for their nap, and then, chores. The Koopalings think about how their life back home was much better, and retreat back to Dark Land.

Mario (still in Momma Madzilla) leads Dadzilla to the now destroyed props garage, and explains how he was once a robot. The Princess tells him that he will be free to live in Giant Land, and, best of all, he will not have any kids to deal with.

Animation and continuity errors

The "VHS" glitch

• When Kootie Pie puts on lipstick at the beginning of the episode, her mole is on the right side of her face but her reflection shows it to be her left.
  • In the same scene, she speaks without moving her mouth.
• In one scene when Kootie Pie performs "Gonna Stomp My Name on the Walk of Fame" and when she and Big Mouth say that they hate naps, her snout is the same color as her skin.
• When Toad pulls Mario down, the Doomship is colored gray instead of brown.
  • In the same scene, it is layered in front of the hill instead of behind it.
• When Kootie says that her real father must have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she is pointing to thin air.
• When Big Mouth and Kootie Pie jump for joy, the bow on Kootie Pie's tail is briefly colored white instead of pink.
• When Madzilla picks up the Koopalings, the rim on Big Mouth's shell is colored white instead of yellow. This also happens when he gives him and Kootie Pie a car.
  • In the same scene, the background moves behind them.
• When Kootie Pie and Big Mouth say, "You have to do what we say!", they freeze.
• When Kootie Pie complains about having a mean father, her reflection is missing from the mirror.
• When Big Mouth enters Kootie Pie's room, the walls are tan instead of purple.
• When Big Mouth says that he and Kootie Pie should find Madzilla, one of the spots on Kootie Pie's bow flashes. This also happens when she tells Madzilla how Mario and his group are.
  • In the same scene, her head moves slightly.
• When the Doomship is about to hit Toad's house, part of it is missing.
• When the Doomship hits Toad's house, Toad's house is completely orange.
• When the episode first shows Hollywood, Big Mouth's shell is green instead of purple. This also happens when he and Kootie Pie exclaim that Madzilla is their true father, along with Kootie Pie's shell being green instead of pink.
• When Big Mouth and Kootie Pie exclaim that Madzilla is their true father, Big Mouth's star is missing.
• When the people are scared by Madzilla, one person briefly appears to be standing in midair, while another is layered over Madzilla.
• When the people run past Kootie Pie and Big Mouth, one person runs past twice.
• When Big Mouth says that his and Kootie Pie's wands will make him feel better, his shell's rim is brown instead of yellow.
• In some scenes, Madzilla has dark skin around his eyes.
• When Big Mouth tells Madzilla that he wants a car, Kootie Pie's eyes are mostly closed.
• When Madzilla picks up a car from a road, the cars switch color several times and appear to be driving in reverse.
• When Fire Mario tells Madzilla to back off, his eyebrows and mustache are colored black instead of brown.
  • In the same scene, the Koopalings and their car are missing. This also happens when Mario says that he lost his fire power.
• When Madzilla asks if the Koopalings want a stretch limousine, his eyelid flashes.
• When Mario tells Princess Toadstool that there is no time to admire the scenery, Toad is drawn with sclerae.
• When Kootie Pie says that the Mario Bros. will be miserable, her shell is white instead of pink.
• When Kootie Pie tells Madzilla how mean Mario and his group are, Big Mouth's head is the same color as his body.
• When Fire Mario shoots a fireball at Madzilla, he briefly turns back into normal Mario.
• When Mario tells his friends to run, Toad's shoes are the same color as his skin, Mario's head glitches, and Luigi's hair flashes.
• When Mario and his friends run away from Madzilla, they run into a store house, but in the next shot, it turns into a parking garage.
• When Madzilla puts his feet in the concrete, Big Mouth and kootie Pie's arms are at their sides, but in the next shot, they are outstretched.
• When Mario approaches his friends with a head, its pink spikes turn blue.
• When Kootie Pie and Big Mouth sing, people throw white boxes at them, but when they approach them, they turn yellow.
• When everyone starts throwing trash at the Koopalings, Big Mouth's body is colored gray like his head instead of brown.
• When Kootie Pie stares, her face turns completely cream-colored.
• At the end of the song, a man squirts orange mustard at Kootie Pie, but when it hits Kootie Pie, the mustard turns yellow.
• When the people throw things at Madzilla, they flash.
• In some scenes, Kootie Pie's eyes are black instead of blue.
• When Madzilla picks up some people, their clothes change color.
• When Madzilla tells the people to cheer for the shrimp in the ocean, his snout flashes.
• When Mario opens a hatch, his mustache is brown instead of black.
• When Mario tells Madzilla to stop, his shoes are colored purple instead of brown.
  • In the same scene, the hatch is open, despite it being closed in previous shots.
• When Big Mouth and Kootie Pie run back home, the left leg of Mario's robot is colored green instead of yellow.
  • Inversely, when Madzilla says that he used to be a robot, the left leg is colored green instead of yellow.
• On the DVD, when Mario says that Kootie Pie and Big Mouth need to take naps, a visual glitch occurs.

Trivia

• Mario's scream when Madzilla picks him up is an audio clip of Lou Albano from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "The Great BMX Race".
  • Later in the same scene, an audio clip of Danny Wells yelling "Yipes!" from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Butch Mario & The Luigi Kid" is used for Luigi.
• This episode has Kootie Pie and Big Mouth state that King Koopa is not their real father, long before Shigeru Miyamoto stated the current story that the Koopalings are not Bowser's children.
• The screaming sounds heard in the crowd scenes of the episode are recycled from an episode of another DIC Entertainment series, The Real Ghostbusters, entitled "Flip Side". The screams of the men that Madzilla picks up are also recycled from that show, specifically the episode “Knock Knock”.
