Template:Award-winner Template:Award-winner Why does "Starman" redirect here? There's a difference between the collectible Stars and the invincibility-granting Starmen. Phoenix Rider 14:34, 10 August 2007 (EDT)

Collectible Stars? You mean Power Stars? I think you are talking about the collectible stars in the MP series. I think the stars in the MP series are in fact Power Stars, although they still look like regular stars. Confusing...Knife (talk) 16:50, 10 August 2007 (EDT)

SM Galaxy

The Star article has a line, "Stars will return in Super Mario Galaxy". Now, I would remove the "will" in "will return", but I am unsure whether this statement refers to Power Stars (which would render it prone to deletion), or perhaps a Rainbow Star (also as such). I am not far enough into the game to determine whether there is another form of star. Anyone know?--Naftaliash827 (talk)

It is a power star. These power stars don't power the castle like in SM64. This time they power the Comet observatory. I know. I have the game.~Μαριοθανικαλ 22:13, 18 November 2007 (EST)

Since it refers to a Power Star, I guess I'll delete that line. Thanks!--Naftaliash827 (talk)

Uh...

'In all versions of Animal Crossing, the Starman can be The Legendary Starfy, the main character resembles a Starman. Also, the first boss is similar to a Blooper obtained as an item to go in the player's house;' Sorry, but that just makes no sense at all.   MrConcreteDonkey

fixed!  GalacticPetey

Tears of Light in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

Hello everyone! I'd like to say that an item appearing in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks plays a similar role as the star. It's called the Tear of Light. But this effect is only seen in the Dark Realm. So I'm asking to the players who finished the game to leave a comment. Thank you!--Qaramana 16:03, 5 February 2010 (EST)

I don't remember it there. Deleted. SWFlash

Mario Kart Wii Question

  • Does anyone know if the Star protects you against the Bullet Bill item? I was hoping to add some details regarding this on the article.   M&SG (talk) 13:28, 26 May 2011 (EDT)
If memory serves, it does. I don't think there is anything that it does not protect you from, other than falling into a pit or something, of course. Mario4Ever (talk)
Okay, because I rarely ever see the Bullet Bill collide with invincible players, and I was concerned about if the Bullet Bill can negate the Star's effects.   M&SG (talk) 14:35, 26 May 2011 (EDT)

Rainbow Star

Why we don't split Rainbow Star and make a own page. Because the Rainbow Star gives M or L super speed higher and longer jumps and gives M or L a look like a rainbow while Starman does not. -- Armin00  08:44, 2 June 2012 (EDT)

Name

Shouldn't we move this to Super Star? It's the most recent name, isn't it?--File:EmblemMasterJr.png BowserJunior RULES! 13:02, 22 January 2013 (EST)

SPLIT 8-3

Like MM51 said, the Rainbow Star is different from a regular star in a few ways. It deserves its own article.

Oppose

  1. LeftyGreenMario (talk) Just as how the Mario Party 4 Mega Mushroom didn't get split from Mega Mushroom (the effects are the same), just as how Mario Party 4 Mini Mushroom didn't get split from Mini Mushroom (the effects are the same), we shouldn't split Rainbow Star from Star. We shouldn't split articles solely on appearance. Also, the effects for Rainbow Star and Invincibility Star are nearly identical: Mario turns rainbow, he runs fast, and he jumps high. Even the music is the same.

Comments

I remember the Invincibility Star giving Mario a rainbow look, a higher jump, and a faster running speed in the New Super Mario Bros. games as well. If the effects are pretty much the same, but the item is different, does it warrant a merge?   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 14:46, 2 April 2013 (EDT)

I remember it giving the rainbow look in Mario Kart DS as well Yoshi876 (talk)
Honestly, I think Invincible Mario and Rainbow Mario are essentially the same form. The only effect that's slightly different is the duration. But, if we're going to create a separate article for Rainbow Mario, we might as well create a separate article for Rainbow Star. Or, we can merge Rainbow Mario with Invincible Mario.   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 15:29, 2 April 2013 (EDT)

Like MM51 said, you can jump higher and for a longer period of time. Plus, you look more like a Rainbow with the star. Plus, the Rainbow star looks different from the regular star.

  YoshiToad04

You can jump higher and you're rainbow with Invincible Mario as well. The rainbow star is essentially the same as a regular star in terms of function.   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:42, 2 April 2013 (EDT)
Actually, it also makes you run faster and faster.   BowserJuniorI find them very different12:42, 12 February 2013 (EST)
Same with the regular star   Ray Trace(T|C) 15:26, 4 April 2013 (EDT)

Does the regular star make you stay in the air for several seconds? NO! Do you look like a rainbow? Yes, but which item gives Mario or Luigi a more rainbow-ish look? The Rainbow Star does. See my point?

  YoshiToad04

The Rainbow Star doesn't let you stay in the air for several seconds either. And what do you mean by more "rainbow-ish look"? All I see is just after-images of Mario, which is too minor to constitute as a major difference.   Ray Trace(T|C) 20:09, 4 April 2013 (EDT)
Look at Rainbow Mario and compare him to Invincible Mario. Rainbow Mario (like I said before) makes you look more like a rainbow. Also, MM51 even said you can have higher and LONGER jumps. Sorry I messed up, but still, Rainbow Star needs its own article.   YoshiToad04
That's not that much of a major difference.   Ray Trace(T|C) 22:19, 5 April 2013 (EDT)
I found this on the Rainbow Mario page.

Power(s) Given: Invincibility, super speed, break objects, longer jump, higher jump See that bold and italicized word? You can't do that with a regular star, now can you?   YoshiToad04

You can break objects in Mario Kart games with the regular star.   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 00:48, 7 April 2013 (EDT)

Ummmmm… why is there a page for Rainbow Mario and not a page for Rainbow Star?

  YoshiToad04

I mentioned that previously.   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 23:27, 9 April 2013 (EDT)
I know, but is there a specific reason any user could've made a page for Rainbow Mario and not Rainbow Star?   YoshiToad04

Shift to Super Star

Guys, I'm pretty sure the offical name is Super Star. I mean, take New Super Mario Bros. U's Star Connection challenge. The description says, "Topple enemies with consecutive Super Stars, and rack up the 1-UPs." And Nintendo wrote that. So, it's Super Star. Super Elite Army Hammer Bro (talk) 16:40, 14 June 2013 (EDT)

The power-up and the Yoshi's Island item...

Why not merge them? On top of the other page being short enough as it is, it is the same item with similar behavior and literally identical names, just with a bit of a different invincibility effect in Baby Mario. It's not the only time a power-up was blatantly altered. LinkTheLefty (talk) 21:50, 9 September 2013 (EDT)

Split Stars from Yoshi's Island

SPLIT 9-0

Well, where to start?

  1. They don't look like Super Stars.
  2. They are not power-ups.
  3. They are called just Stars.

Is this enough? What do you think?

Split Star (Yoshi's Island) from Super Star (power-up)

  1. Mr. Ice Bro. (talk) - Per my proposal.
  2. Mario (talk) Mario Super Stars grant Mario invincibility and awful music. Super Stars extend the time Baby Mario is in a bubble before he gets pulverized by Toadies. The Yoshi's Island section is disjointed from the rest of the article, so I say split.
  3. Ashley and Red (talk) They have totally different effects. Per Mario.
  4. MegaKoopa (talk) Per Mr. Ice Bro and Mario.
  5. YoshiCookie (talk) Per all.
  6. Lord Grammaticus (talk) Per all.
  7. Fizzle (talk) Per all except Mario because the Super Star music is awesome. But yeah, in YI there are already Stars and Super Stars alongside each other, they're not the same.
  8. Dashbot (talk) Different function + different name = new article
  9. Walkazo (talk) - Per all.

Leave it alone

Wrong

Getting an 1-Up with a Starman isn't possible in Super Mario Bros.? I'm not 100% sure World of Tsunami!

This article should be called Starman

The official name for this power-up is a Starman, so shouldn't that be the title of this article? Should it be changed? Andyni, November 8, 2014, 2:54 P.M EST
