Basically Mario Power Tennis for the Game Boy Advance. It brings back the RPG elements of its predecessor. It also has minigames having nothing to do with tennis. Much to the disappointment of numerous gamers, Power Tour is not compatible with Mario Power Tennis like its golf counterpart.

Plot

The main character wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings. His/her partner explains that the protagonist has enrolled at the Royal Tennis Academy, and she/he is the character's doubles partner. Having passed out the previous day during the Welcome Workout, the hero decide to get some breakfast. When they arrive at the restaurant it is deserted and he/she finds out that masked challengers have challenged the top players After hearing that masked players defeated the schools champions, he/she sets out to get top ranked, in order to enter the main tournament (The Island Open) so that they can discover the masked players' true identities.

Also, many various characters can be unlocked through winning a match against them which are listed above.

Cameo appearances and game references

  • Alex, Harry, Nina, and Kate come from the original Game Boy Color Mario Tennis, they appear in as coaches in the game, but they're unplayable.
  • The pink plane Mario, Peach, and Toadsworth were on in the intro of Super Mario Sunshine is used to bring Ace and Clay to the Mushroom Kingdom.
  • There is a psychic tennis player named Willy and his Power Shots are very similar to two Psynergy moves from Golden Sun.
  • Chun-li From the Street Fighter series makes a cameo as a playable character in the island open (As Mel)
  • Many of the Power Shots in Mario Tennis: Power Tour resemble psynergies from the Golden Sun series, such as a fire dragon and a big, massive fist.
