110m Hurdles is an Athletics event in the game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. It is one of the unlockable events of the game, and can be found in the "Track" section of the "Athletics" category. The goal of the event, is to reach the finish line first, while jumping over obstacles in the track called, hurdles. Hurdles are placed every 10m in the game. The longer version of this event is 400m Hurdles, and the 100m Dash event acts very similarly to 110m Hurdles. The 100m has very similar controls to 100m Hurdles. This event mainly requires speed.

This event can be played with either the Wii Remote and Nunchuk together, or the Wii Remote by itself. When READY appears, the player has to hold the wii Button down, as to build up energy. If the button is released and the Wii Remote is flicked down at the same time when GO appears, the player will get a speed boost. This boost is crucial in winning the game. However, doing it too early will result in a foul, causing the event to start over. After leaving the starting line, the player has to alternately shake the Wii Remote and Wii Nunchuk fast to run. Speed is gained the faster the two controllers are shaken. If the speed meter gets into the red, the player will start to run extra fast, with a small blue veil trailing behind them. Pressing the wii button when close to a hurdle will result in a jump. Doing this right before a hurdle will cause the player to go faster. This is shown by a blue trail behind the player.

If the player fails to jump when they come to a hurdle, they will be hindered for a moment and knock it down. Occasionally, the hurdle may fall even when the player jumps over it, but this will not effect the player. The track is relatively short, however, so the race does not last too long. The controls when only using the Wii Remote are the exact same as with the Nunchuk, but the player has to shake the Wii Remote by itself, instead of the Remote and Nunchuk together.

Missions
Wario
Wario's sixth and final mission in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is 110m Hurdles. To clear the mission Wario must cross the finish line before all of the other racers cross it and leap over every hurdle perfectly. If he doesn't get first, knocks over a hurdle or doesn't get a speed boost after a jump, he will fail the mission.

Amy
Amy Rose's sixth mission and her final in the Wii version is the same as Wario's sixth mission. To win it, she must cross the finish line first and jump all hurdles perfectly. If she hits or barely jumps a hurdle, she will fail the mission.

Blaze
Blaze the Cat's fifth mission in the Wii version is 110m hurdles. To win it, she must finish the race before her rival, Princess Peach does.

Shadow
Shadow the Hedgehog's third mission in the Wii version is 110m hurdles. To win this mission, Shadow must defeat Blaze the Cat.

Description
Kick off from the starting blocks and sprint towards the finish line as quickly as you can, leaping across the hurdles positioned along your path. You won't be penalized for knocking hurdles down, but it will cost you valuable few seconds each time.
