The Baseball Boys is the second level in World Two in the games Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its remake, Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island. This level introduces a variety of new enemies, such as Sluggers and Green Gloves, which are capable of stopping Yoshi's eggs. It also introduces Blow Hards, enemies that cannot be defeated, only stunned. Additionally, strange, purple-colored versions of Toadies make their debut in this level, as well as Little Mousers.

As the level starts, the player will see a new landscape with crayon blue-colored mountains in the background. He or she should immediately notice the Help Block, which is recommended to be hit. Yoshi should refill his egg supply and throw an egg at the nearby purple-colored floating Arrow Cloud to collect some coins. After that, Yoshi should either jump or Ground Pound on the Sluggers and Green Gloves to defeat them and get some more coins, and then throw an egg at the Winged ? Cloud. This will lower the platform blocking the path. Yoshi must jump over it and make contact with the Special Flower next to it.

To proceed, Yoshi should continue his way right and jump over the two Shy Guys on the way up to the slope, or rather defeat them somehow. At the top of the slope, Yoshi should Flutter Jump over the menacing Blow Hard, collecting the coins in the way and landing on top of the next slope. He should then repeat this action with the next Blow Hard between the two next slopes, landing on a Milde. The player may either jump over or eat the two other Mildes and continue right to come to three platforms. Here, Yoshi should temporarily stun the Blow Hard by throwing an egg at it, and quickly throw another egg at the Winged ? Cloud for an extra life. He should then quickly jump over the Blow Hard and land on the other platform. The player should continue right until he or she sees a Pipe, from which Shy Guys come out of. Yoshi should refill his egg supply with these Shy Guys and then throw an egg at the Winged ? Cloud above for a beanstalk sunflower to grow. Climbing the beanstalk will lead to a small tunnel. The player must climb up the tunnel, avoiding the Blow Hards. Like before, the player may OPTIONALLY throw an egg at these Blow Hards to temporarily stun the Blow Hards, although it is completely unnecessary. Once on the top, outside of the tunnel, there will be two Fly Guys floating around carrying a Red Coin each. Yoshi can throw eggs at them or eat them to obtain the coins. Yoshi should now jump on the grass patch and jump down into the gap to land near a Help Block, which teaches Yoshi about Superstar Mario. Yoshi should continue right along the platform and drop down through the outline blocks to land on some wooden-colored steps; run them down for two red coins and then drop down the new gap. After landing, Yoshi should shoot an egg at the purple-colored Arrow Cloud pointing left to destroy a small block of soil and allow the Super Star to fall.

Collecting the Super Star will transform Baby Mario into Superstar Mario. Upon collecting it, the player should aquickly run through the Flipper Paddles on the left to find the second Star, and then continue left up the slope and along the red-dotted egg blocks to find another star, and a bit more to the left to find yet another star. Baby Mario should now run up the steep slope to collect another star, and run up the wall for a sixth one. Baby Mario will now be outside. The player must jump to the platform above and quickly collect the star here, and keep running until the now familiar gap. There will be another star floating over it. Baby Mario should collect it and drop down, then quickly run right, go through the small hall, walking over the spikes, and reach the new area.

In this new area, the player should wait for Pink Yoshi to go back to normal and touch the Middle Ring next to the spikes to obtains some stars. Next, he or she should hit the Egg Block just to the right to refill the egg supply. After that, Yoshi should walk down the slope and wait for the Slugger to be facing right, and quickly throw an egg at the ? Cloud below the platform for it to reveal a Special Flower. The player should repeat this to obtain the second Special Flower of the level. After that, Yoshi should hop on the long wooden platform above and continue right. Once on the edge of the platform, Yoshi should jump over the gap and to the platform to the right, avoiding the Green Glove below. Once on the edge of this new one, Yoshi should Futter Jump, making sure he collects the red coin in the way, and land of a Moving Platform. Quickly jump to a small, stick-like platform above and then to the grass patch. Upon moving right and dropping down a little bit, there will be a small hole. Yoshi should throw an egg into the tunnel so it bounces against the wall and is received by a Green Glove. Yoshi should now quickly move to the right, next to the Red Arrow Sign. The Green Glove will throw the egg at the wall, hitting a Winged ? Cloud in the process. This will make Yoshi obtain another red coin. Upon continuing right, Yoshi will change "screen" and get to a new area.

This new area looks nothing different than last one. Yoshi should go right until he finds a light-blue colored lemon hanging from a tree. This fruit can be optionally eaten to defeat the Piranha Plant and Shy Guy to the right. After that, the player should use the Large Spring Ball to bounce up to a platform above. Yoshi should go left, jump on the grass patch and go through the wall to find a Middle Ring, which will award 10 stars. If the player has not been hit in the whole level, then he or she should already have all 30 stars. Yoshi should now get out of the small tunnel back to the grass patch, walk to the edge and from there, jump into the small block of soil. This one looks like a regular floating mass of soil, but it can be entered through the middle. Now Yoshi should jump from the right-most edge of it to the mass of soil to the right, and from there, to the one to the left, which is the top of the one accessed before. From here, Yoshi should jump into the block to the right, throw an egg at the cloud inside it and collect five yellow Coins. After that, he should go back to the last platform and jump to the left, and then into the above block for a single red coin. Then, he should exit the hidden tunnel and jump on the grass patch on which there is another Large Spring Ball. To its left is also an Egg Box to refill the egg supply. The player should bounce up using the Spring Ball to land on top of a soil block, then drop down to the one below and jump into the one to the next for an ? Cloud containing the third Special Flower. After that, Yoshi should hop back to the last block and jump on top of the one that had the ? Cloud (the one with a red arrow sign on it), and Flutter Jump all the way to a secret tunnel to the right.

The player will now meet Little Mousers. They don't do much; although they can be rather annoying, and their egg-stealing will soon become a chore. The first Little Mouser the player sees will be holding an egg and will run down the slope and into a small tunnel only these foes can enter. Yoshi can either ignore them or eat them for eggs. Now, from the start of the tunnel, Yoshi should walk down the slope and quickly throw an egg at the Blow Hard on the ceiling. The tunnel will now divide in two. The player should take the above path first. The path is clear of enemies until the player encounters a Piranha Plant. This one should just be defeated by throwing an egg at it. Upon continuing right, the player will find three lone coins floating in the air. The middle one is a Red Coin. The player should now go back to the junction, but take the lower path this time. On the way down the slope will be another Piranha Plant. This one can be either defeated by throwing an egg, or dodged by slowly walking off the edge of the platform. Once the player deals with the Piranha Plant, he should keep advancing upon encountering another Little Mouser, which should be eaten for egg supply. Going down will result in another junction. The player should take the left path first to encounter a Piranha Plant and some Little Mousers running around. Yoshi should eat the Little Mousers and dispose of the Piranha Plant to get to the other side and obtain the Fourth Special Flower. Above the place in which the Piranha Plant used to be is an Ice Watermelon. The player may optionally (it IS recommended) to eat it to easily defeat enemies by breathing ice at them. Once the player is back at the junction, he or she should merely take the right path until he or she finds the exit to the secret tunnel. It's a straight path with just but a Piranha Plant which isn't necessary to defeat, which means there's nothing relevant. Once outside of the secret tunnel, the player should continue right to get to a new Area.

In this new area, the player should go right to find yet another secret tunnel. Once inside, he or she will immediately notice a Winged ? Cloud just there. The player should throw an egg at it to uncover a Metamorphosis Bubble. The player should touch it for Pink Yoshi to transform into the Yoshi Mole Tank. The transformed Yoshi should quickly enter the small opening full of soft ground to obtain some coins. There are three hidden red coins as well: One near the beginning, on around the middle of the course, and one that is the very last one. The player has to be quick to obtain them all and don't miss any. Once that's covered, the player has to continue right down the slope to finally drop down to one of the many junctions of this area. The player should take the right path, and continue right when finding another junction. A Slugger will be walking from left to right on a small platform in this place. Behind him, three coins are waiting to be obtained. The player has two options: To wait for the Slugger to face right and quickly throw an egg over him, so it bounces around and gets the Red Coins, or to jump on the Slugger when he's on the edge of the "platform" he's walking on, successfully defeating him. After the player obtains the Red Coins, he or she should go back to the very first junction. Once there, he or she should go left and jump over the small gap. Here, Yoshi should eat the Little Skull Mouser to proceed left and find a Crate. Yoshi should Ground Pound this crate to obtain six stars or golden coins, depending on whether the player already has 30 stars or not. After that, the player should head right and drop down the gap.

Once Yoshi has landed, the player should run right (eating the Little Mousers that rush towards him in the way), jump over the gap and collect the middle red coin in the small rooms he comes to. After that, the player should go left and drop down the gap jumped previously. From the landed area, Yoshi should head all the way right, avoiding the Tap-Tap in the way, until he or she finds a Winged ? Cloud, which should be thrown an egg at for a 1UP. After that's done, the player should go all the way back to where he or she landed from the gap; continue left, jump over the Tap-Tap in the small gap and collect the Red Coin in the area past him. Under this just-jumped Tap-Tap, in the gap, is a secret ? Cloud which contains stars. If the player desperately needs stars, he or she should try moving the Tap-Tap with Yoshi's Tongue to the side, and then try to aim an egg into the small gap. It is certainly difficult, but not impossible. The player should then continue left by jumping over the other Tap-Tap, jump over the slope that goes down to land on a path to the left, and continually hit the jumping Tap-Tap here with Yoshi's tongue so it moves and Yoshi can obtain the Red Coin here. It is also recommended to eat the Ice Watermelon here, too. After that, the player should run right and down the slope jumped over before and continue down the slope. Once Yoshi encounters a small gap, the player should jump over it and shoot the Winged ? Cloud here for three stars. After that, Yoshi should drop down the gap and continue right upon finding a large room with a single floating platform and a Tulip on it. Yoshi should jump on the platform, eat the Green Shy Guy here and throw it inside the Tulip for eight extra stars. After that, the player should drop down the platform and to the bottom of this room to exit the tunnel and find a small area with spikes and a Green Glove wandering around. The player must be quite tricky here: He must wait for the enemy to face right and shoot an egg in a perfect angle, so it bounces against the wall and touches the last Red Coin in the level. This Red Coin is the last one found in the room from left to right. If the player is finding a hard time doing this, it is recommended to have two eggs: One to throw at the Green Glove, to keep it busy, and the other to throw immediately after. This will have the Green Glove problem out of the map, but the player will still need exceptional aim.

Once the coin is collected, the player should return into the tunnel and continue right. The player should spot a Little Mouser holding an egg here. Naturally, the player should try to eat it and its egg, since the egg supply is probably very low at the moment. The Little Mouser, if not eaten, will drop off a very small gap below a Piranha Plant. If the player has eggs, he or she should fire an egg at the Piranha Plant, but if not, then he or she should try to jump to the other side without touching the Piranha Plant. It's tricky, but it's possible. The player should continue right to encounter two Little Mousers. Yoshi should eat both and go back to the small gap seen before. This time, the player should drop down to find a small room. Here, Yoshi will be standing on a small Spring Ball, and Yoshi will be unable to move anywhere, as right below is just full of spikes. The player will have to try and aim at the ceiling or wall to the right, so an egg bounces against it and collects the final Special Flower. Yoshi should now jump back to the secret tunnel and go right upon finding a Piranha Plant. If there are no eggs, then the player should return to the room which had the last Special Flower and eat the Ice Melon floating in the upper left corner. With it, Yoshi should be able to defeat the Piranha Plant, get out of the tunnel and finally find the Goal Ring. Yoshi should jump at it to hand over Baby Mario to the next Yoshi, Cyan Yoshi.

This article is on the level named The Baseball Boys. For the enemy, click here.

Additionally, strange, purple-colored versions of Toadies make their debut in this level, as well as Little Mousers and Little Skull Mousers.

Upon collecting it, the player should quickly run through the Flipper Paddles on the left to find the second Star, and then continue left up the slope and along the red-dotted egg blocks to find another star, and a bit more to the left to find yet another star.

After that, Yoshi should walk down the slope and wait for the Slugger to be facing right, and quickly throw an egg at the ? Cloud below the platform for it to reveal a Special Flower.

The Baseball Boys
The evil spike room containing the very last Special Flower.
