World 3-4 is the fourth and final level of World 3 in Super Mario Bros. Special.
Layout[edit]
The level begins with a series of pits of lava, with Fire-Bars between them. After this, there is a ? Block in the ceiling, with two rows of Hidden Blocks below it, which are needed to reach it. If Mario is Small Mario, the ? Block will release a Magic Mushroom, which can only be obtained by following it until it falls through a hole in the ceiling later on. If Mario is not Small Mario, the block will release a Fire Flower, which cannot be obtained, as it will stay stationary in the inaccessible space above the ceiling. Another lava pit is present immediately adjacent to the Hidden Block structure.
There is a set of three Fire-Bars, then a staircase with two barrels rolling down it. Above the bottom of the staircase is a Hidden Block that contains a Hammer, and above that, another Hidden Block that only contains a coin. At the top of the staircase, there is a hole in the ceiling – where the mushroom can fall down – and a gap leading downwards. There are barrels on the ceiling that fall into the gap, which also has a Fire-Bar complicating things.
The remainder of the level is straightforward. There are two lava pits with Podoboos, then a section with a pipe. Small Mario can take a narrow path under the pipe, but there is nothing reached or skipped by going this way. After this is the bridge with Bowser.
