No.48

Tatanga-sei is Tatanga's home planet, as shown in Super Mario Land 2 - 6-tsu no Kinka 2 of the Super Mario Kodansha manga.

Not much of the planet is shown: it looks like a Mars-like wasteland, with cacti and trees resembling the ones seen in various backgrounds in the game. From space, a giant「た」(Ta) is shown on the surface. The inhabitants are aliens identical to Tatanga: small goblin-like creatures with big pointy ears.

In the only volume it appears, the planet is the final stage of Space Zone, standing in for the boss arena of Star Course. The planet's atmosphere is also breathable, but during the battle, Tatanga uses some special bombs that vacuum the oxygen of the area and reduce the gravity, forcing Mario and friends to re-wear their spacesuits and nearly killing the aliens, saved at the last minute by Hippo and his bubbles.

According to the game guide, Super Mario-kun, and the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia, No.48 also originates from this planet.[1][2][3]
