Brothership[edit]

Would Yoshi's Ground Pound that he does at the end of Hatch Me If You Can in Mario & Luigi Brothership be a reference to this? He lets out the "Briiiii-hah!" from this. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 07:26, November 9, 2024 (EST)

Yoshi's done the "kururin-ha" (as it is officially spelled) for ground pounds since Yoshi's Story. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:28, November 8, 2024 (EST)

Got it. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 07:26, November 9, 2024 (EST)

Wouldn't it make more sense if this article were to be merged with Ground Pound, anyway? Yoshi's Ground Pound is fully covered there, and both moves share the same name of Hip Drop in Japanese... ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 08:23, November 9, 2024 (EST)

I would be sad if we merged them, but I wouldn't oppose. Salmancer (talk) 10:40, May 25, 2025 (EDT)
I'd be opposed to merging them. Yes, they share a name in Japanese and yes they are both Ground Pounds, but looking at the Bowser Bomb (which, yes, doesn't share the same Japanese name), it functions the exact same. Merging one over a name, but not both over function doesn't sit right with me. Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Bowser Bomb is more the separate thing from SMB3 and SM64. They don't "drop their hips" for that, so to speak, just use their already hefty weight. It's basically the same as what Roy does. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:23, May 25, 2025 (EDT)
Bowser's High Dive's non-English names seem to say the difference is negligible. Including outright being a hip drop in Japanese. Salmancer (talk) 14:30, May 25, 2025 (EDT)
Well there he actually is dropping his hips rather than landing on his feet. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:54, May 25, 2025 (EDT)
If Ground Pounds and Bowser Bombs are split on a non-gameplay animation difference (Bowser doesn't move for a bit no matter if he lands on his feet or not), it would mean Bowser Jr.'s equivalent attack in Maker's SMB3 style where he lands sitting goes on a different page than Bowser's. Which is not good. Salmancer (talk) 15:54, May 25, 2025 (EDT)
Interestingly enough, I feel like the inexplicable stars this move creates (actually explicable, its Kirby influenced) would give Yoshi Bomb the edge for keeping its page compared to Bowser Bomb. Salmancer (talk) 17:25, October 3, 2025 (EDT)
