Let's Go Lightly Must Go[edit]

Brown Block This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal.

Remove "Let's Go Lightly" from the page because it's a different song 9-2
"Let's Go Lightly" is not an arrangement of this song and does not belong on this page. Aside from the bassline having a similar rhythm and the first three notes being held for two beats each there is nothing similar between the two songs. Yes, there are arrangements of other SMB3 map themes in Mario Party but that doesn't automatically make this one an arrangement just because the first five seconds vaguely resemble it.

Support: Remove "Let's Go Lightly" from the page because it's a different song[edit]

  1. Bee Kirby (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Rykitu (talk) Per proposal.
  3. DryKirby64 (talk) Per proposal.
  4. PrincessPeachFan (talk) Because I haven't heard of this comparison.
  5. DrBaskerville (talk) Per all.
  6. Hewer (talk) I can hear the connection but I don't think it's quite enough to say with certainty that it's not a coincidence. Let's Go Lightly is now eligible for its own article anyway, so we can use that to point out the similarity without definitively calling it an intentional reference.
  7. Daita (talk) Despite it being a variation of the World 4 Map BGM, i think per all.
  8. The Dab Master (talk) Per all. It's honestly not that similar.
  9. Altendo (talk) I can hear a similar motif in the middle section but I don't think it's enough to classify it as an arrangement.

Oppose: Leave "Let's Go Lightly" on the page[edit]

  1. PhGuy12 (talk) Per my comment.
  2. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - Per PhGuy, I can hear it. It's not really any more different from the original than a modern Fairy Fountain theme is from Water Land's.

Comments[edit]

When exactly was the MP thing added? For instance, I just checked TV Tropes and it didn't mention any similarity between Let's Go Lightly and World 4 Map (Giant Land). PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:56, July 11, 2025 (EDT)

Sooooo, the edit summary says (Mario Party 1 has arrangements of other SMB3 map themes (Worlds 6 and 8), so it is unlikely that this similarity is a coincidence.). PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:57, July 11, 2025 (EDT)

The part that plays between 0:10 and 0:16 is clearly the same that plays between 0:06 and 0:12 in the original, but with more notes (the last three are identical). It's mainly in this part that the arrangement is recognizable, not only in the first five seconds.

So, how exactly do you explain this comparsion appears literally nowhere else? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:23, July 13, 2025 (EDT)
On one hand, I don't think it's necessary for a reference to be seen elsewhere for it to be valid; on the other hand, the similarities between the two are passing at best, and I don't think Mario Party having arrangements of other SMB3 map themes is a compelling argument for it being an intentional similarity, especially since the others are very direct arrangements. @Doc von Schmeltwick: About that... Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 15:00, July 13, 2025 (EDT)

Yeaaaaaaaaah, that proposal separated Water Land from the Fairy Fountain because they weren't similar. So uh, yeah. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 09:58, July 14, 2025 (EDT)
Well they are similar, it was just confirmed it wasn't intentionally so. This, meanwhile, is a game where much of the soundtrack is derived from SMB3 map themes. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:24, July 21, 2025 (EDT)
