I have to wonder...[edit]

If they're called Helper Monkeys in DKJB (are they?), then how did Brawl end up giving them the name "Party Monkey"? BooDestroyer

Probably because they gave the wrong name to them... --Metalex123 (talk) 15:58, 11 August 2014 (EDT)

A monkey![edit]

Shouldn't we rename this to Monkey (DKJB) considering packed in manuals take priority over website names? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 00:31, June 30, 2025 (EDT)

Honest question, but what about "Party Monkey"? It is an official in-game name, though from Super Smash Bros. Brawl instead of Jungle Beat, but it's still very much officially in a video game. --Metalex123 (talk) 00:22, August 19, 2025 (EDT)

Monkey Moving[edit]

Brown Block This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal.

Move to Monkey (DKJB) 5-2-1
All right, so we have two names that this page could be moved to. First is Monkey (DKJB) because it is from a packed in manual, the second is Party Monkey from Super Smash Bros Brawl. Both of those are higher priority, being from a packed in manual and in-game respectively. Or we could keep it here despite being lower priority.

A MONKEY! Support, Option 1[edit]

  1. PrincessPeachFan (talk) Per proposal.
  2. Ryukitu (talk) Per PrincessPeachFan's comment
  3. Arend (talk) "Monkeys" also appears in the New Play Control version's manual, so both it and "Helper Monkey" are the most recent titles compared to "Party Monkey" (which only appeared in Brawl and never really made much sense to me anyway).
  4. GuntherBayBeee (talk) Per all.
  5. Power Flotzo (talk) Per all.

Party On Support, Option 2[edit]

  1. PrincessPeachFan (talk) If Eggplant Man can have his main image be from Chibi-Robo! then we can have the name be from Brawl.
  2. Metalex123 (talk) I mean it is an official name that appears directly in a Nintendo video game instead of hidden on a website or manual.

#GuntherBayBeee (talk) These monkeys and a trophy based on them remain unused in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, respectively. Plus, there is also a sticker that appears in SSBB.

#Party Rykitu (talk) Super Smash Bros. Brawl is more recent then New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (the source used for the current title) so this should be the title.

Helping is just fine Oppose, Option 3[edit]

#Helper Rykitu (talk) New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is the most recent time this character was named.

  1. Helper CDAWG (talk) It seems like party monkey is out the door, so I think keeping it at Helper monkey is the right move, (No pun intended) Because it goes straight to the point. if you type in monkey in the search bar, you'll be at this page, But if you type in Helper Monkey, you'll be at this page.

Comments (Monkey Business)[edit]

@Ryukitu: The point of this is that the packed-in manual and in-game are higher priority than a website. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:41, August 20, 2025 (EDT)

@GuntherBaybeee: The model and trophy were never actually named. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 10:46, August 25, 2025 (EDT)

@GuntherBayBeee I have to concur with PrincessPeachFan. There is no additional data attached to the unused Galaxy model or the unused Brawl trophy that states the monkey's name, so I don't know why that should factor in the decision to rename them to "Party Monkey". Sure, if the Brawl trophy were used, it COULD'VE been named "Party Monkey" like the Sticker, but that's all theory. I still believe that just "Monkey (Donkey Kong Jungle Beat)" would suffice, as "Monkey" was used as recent as the manual for New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat; which came out later than Brawl and is thus more recent, AND according to MarioWiki:Naming#Acceptable sources for naming, manual names have equal priority to in-game names. @Metalex123 Names from manuals have equal priority to in-game names. Not only that, but I would argue that the SSBB name is more hidden, since you have to unlock the sticker at random, whilst with the New Play Control manual, you'll practically find it on the first page. Isn't "Party" Monkey meant to refer to the dancing, clapping ones specifically? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:26, August 30, 2025 (EDT)

That would honestly make a lot of sense; however, the Japanese version of Brawl seems to refer to this particular sticker as simply "Kikki" instead of "Hakushu Kikki". ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 11:36, August 30, 2025 (EDT)

@Helper CDAWG: Again, the packed-in manual is higher priority. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 07:46, August 31, 2025 (EDT)

@Colin's world 3 YT I don't understand the issue here. Monkey is a disambiguation page, so one could list Monkey (Donkey Kong Jungle Beat) just right there? In fact, "Helper Monkey" is even already listed, so all that would need to be done is to change the link to the appropriate name. And since Helper Monkey would be moved to "Monkey (Donkey Kong Jungle Beat)", that would make "Helper Monkey" a redirect that automatically leads people to the correct page.
