Sources?[edit]
Hi there, hello. So, I've read the entire page and there's only one reference regarding the decoding of the languages... why aren't there sources for the other ones? Like, there's no apparent reason for those signs to mean what they mean in this page, you know? Anyway, maybe references or the process to finding the meanings could be added. - I don't think sources are strictly necessary for this page as long as enough examples are provided. Any source, like the Super Mario Sunshine video ultimately amounts to guessing in-game text in order to find the glyphs, which are then used to partially translate more text that can then be guessed, so on and so forth. In that sense, the source is proven by the presence of the text examples and their translations. — Lady Sophie_17

- What? I didn't really get it, but from what I got, you're just guessing the meanings and, while some guesses make, honestly, a lot of sense, it's still just guessing, and this is supposed to be an objective wiki with true confirmed information. Am I getting through? Balugio (talk) 15:10, October 15, 2026 (UTC)
- Yes. We are "guessing" in the sense that we are deciphering a code. By trial and error, we can double-check with other instances of text and confirm if the results make sense. This is as much guesswork as you will find anywhere else on the internet, so no source out there could ever confirm this (unless a developer talked about it, which is very unlikely). I hope this explanation made the method more clear. Nevertheless, I did use as a guideline a table from the internet that was made by YouTuber 2Chrispy, so I've decided to add his video as a citation since it helped speed up the process for Donkey Kong Bananza. — Lady Sophie_17
